Lots of fancy posts on swapping 1gb Talon bumpers onto Lasers, but I'd like to know if I can just swap tails. My Laser's tails are cracked and I have 1gb Talon Tails handy.

I'd like to think about swapping the whole bumper, not just do it for the heck of it.

Does anyone know?

Thanks

Yes. I do.

Short answer: yes you can, but not without some modifications.

The 1gb Talon tail lights "drip" down where it meets the center light section, as you can see in the second photo below. The center piece on the 1gb Talon droops down along the top of the bumper. The 1gb Laser tails and center piece are straight across (reference the third photo, which isn't my car) and will hit the horizontal sheet metal bracket that's tack welded onto the frame. You'll have to clip that horizontal sheet metal support in two spots and bend it down or remove the tack welds with a drill.

An added caveat: the stock Laser muffler tips will probably not line up with the 1gb Talon bumper. The muffler tips hang slightly farther to the right (passenger side) on the 1gb Talon, than on the other models. If you have an aftermarket type exhaust, this may not matter.

Looks easier to do everything at once or not bother with it. Thanks very much for writing this up and going all out!
