I've searched on these subjects but all the threads seem to deal with the 1ga spoilers, and the subject doesnt seem to be covered in the Haynes manual. I've got to repaint my car and I will be doing it one section at a time, starting with the hood and working my way back. In other words, I've got a week or so before I have to start worrying about this and thus have time to special order hardware before I get started. Is there any real difference in removing the spoiler from the 1gb cars as opposed to the 1ga ones? Are there any special fasteners that I should replace while I am in there? I assume that I have to take out the plastic trim in the hatch area, and I am waiting for the replacement fasteners to use for that step (and the dynomat to deaden the area), so if I am going to need special fasteners replaced when I reinstall it, I'd like to know so that I can have them on hand before I start taking it off.
Also, since I am going to be moving my sound system into the vehicle, does anyone have any suggestions on eliminating rattles before I start? I've got new hatch struts in the garage now, and new weather stripping on the way, but am there any kind of gasket material that anyone knows of that I can use to keep the spoiler from rattling once the subs are in? I'd like to find something that isn't going to deteriorate (sp??) due to the elements and that is thin enough that it wont cause any fitment issues.
As for painting the spoiler, should I use any kind of flex agent on the spoiler, or is it sturdy enough that I can just spray it like the rest of the car?
Sorry about the long list of questions, but Ive only had this car for 25 ½ hours at this point and havent had a chance to start disassembling much beyond the dashboard, so I figured that some of you other 1gb owners out there might have some specific knowledge that could help me prevent stupid mistakes on my part. I had a 1ga before so its not like Im entirely green.
