I just picked up a 1993 Eclipse GSX. I really hated the look of the stock tail lights and the paint matching stripe that runs through the middle. There is a 1990 Talon in my local junkyard so I figured I could take the lights off of that for my car, although I wasnt sure if they would swap over. After searching around for quite some time I really could not find a clear cut answer as to whether or not it would work so I just went for it with intentions of documenting the results.
After removing my the tail lights from my GSX I could see that the wiring was slightly different. Both the two center lights and the third, outside light, have a different electrical clip. I was able to directly swap over the wiring/clips/bulbs for the two center-most lights. The outside light required a slight modification to fit. The Eclipse light had four keys on it ( See Pic ) where as the Talon's had only 3. In order to make it work I basically forced it in there and RTV'd to fit snug. Worked great.
The actual fitment of the lights is not perfect. There is a slight gap (about 1/2")on the sides of the light between the bottom of the light and top of the bumper meet. ( See Pictures )
Overall I am very satisfied with this modification. I picked up my tail lights from the junkyard for only $40 and they have absolutely no cracks at all. They look MUCH better than the stockers and give it a sort of unique look IMO.
