I have been searching for a write up on this but have yet to find one. All I have found is that is is possible but some things need to be changed. So my question is what all is different and how can I modify it to work? My 2g turbo is squealing so I bought a 1g turbo off of a friend and have checked it over to make sure it is good to go. Has no shaft play and spins quite nicely so I think I'm gonna try it.

How to: Replace your T25 with a MHI Turbo (14b/16g) - Team-2G Mitsubishi Forum BOOM... there you go theres no possible way you searched i typed it in and this was the very first thing that came up :banghead:

Which he wants to put on his 2g car....

Yes thanks i can read, a 1g turbo installed on a 2g. Disconnect the oil feed lines, one off the head one off the oil pan/bottom of the turbo. Dissconect the water lines off the turbo. Take off your heat shield/O2 sensor, 4 bolts off the exhaust manifold, 2 bolts off the down pipe. Dissconect the intake off the turbo and move it outta the way which should be one of the first sets along with draining your fluids, also disconnect the lower intercooler hose. You will need different hose/modified house with a j-pipe for your install.

Serial number says its a 14b. I took some pictures too.

While I was at work I decided to use a grinding tool to smooth out the exhaust side.
It was looking pretty rough.

I'm assuming your pulling the turbine housing Off to thoroughly clean out the shavings correct? May as well now and do a full port job on it.

^ That turbine housing is WORSE than junk. I'd suggest starting with another turbo or your next thread will be titled "why doesn't my 14B build any boost" or "my 14B is extremely laggy".

Is that a crack in the turbine housing pictures? I wasnt sure if it was an optical illusion from carbon build up or if it was a crack.

If thats a crack you could smuggle small children in that thing. ROFL

Ya I'm concerned about him sending shavings through the turbine, and then BAM, I guess compared to that canyon, a few shavings won't hurt.

Just tons of carbon build up. Never torn apart a housing yet but I plan to and then ill send it to one of my friends to have it ported and cleaned. Ill post pics of progress once it happens.

And yes I snapped 2bolts getting the o2 housing and exhaust mani off of it. Luckily Ive got a drill tough enough to bore that thing out and then tap it. Should be done tomorrow.

Carbon my ass- that crack above/below the wastegate hole is just slightly smaller than the San Andreas fault.

I've scrapped housings in far better shape that that piece. Do yourself a favor and find a better turbo/housing before you waste hours drilling out broken bolts.

well if you say so but that looks like a crack to me.. and i hope you got drill BITS tough enough.

Well since I'm still a probationary member I cant get on the classifieds to grab a new turbo and I'm trying to keep this on a budget. I'm gonna try cleaning and welding then cleaning it again.

Chances are even after it is welded the crack is only going to reform or spread. Your free to try but I'd strongly advise against it.

I took your guys' advice and scraped it. found more cracks that made the whole thing unstable. Possibly going with a 16g or just looking for a good housing for the 14b. I gotta do some searching first

Does anyone know of a 14b for sale or just the housing? I decided to move forward on the 14b instead of having to change my manifold for a 16g. All of the install components are in and now I am just waiting to find a good 14b. The only ones I have found in the classifieds sold immediately or are pending sales.
