hey guys. I need some help. I got my hands on some 1G parts and I wanted to know what would I could swap, and what other parts I would need to go with it. Im getting a 1G throttle body, intake, head, exhaust manifold, 14B turbo, and 02 housing. pretty much the whole top end. I was woundering what I could swap over, and what other things I would have to do. Im pretty sure the head bolts up, and everything else will go along with it. but can I use the stock ECU from my 2G with a 1G head? any help would be sweet :thumb:

What is wrong with the 2g parts? The 2g head is generally considered to be superior due to better flow characteristics, as is the 2g exhaust manifold and o2 sensor housing. The 1g throttle body is larger, but the difference should be negligible until you're running massive amounts of boost. If I remember correctly, 1g and 2g intake manifolds are not interchangeable between head generations.

If it was my car and there was nothing wrong with the 2g parts, I'd use the 14b turbo with a 2g o2 sensor hosing, 2g exhaust manifold, 2g throttle body, 2g head and 2g intake manifold (actually, that's pretty much the exact setup I'm running at the moment).

the best combo is the 1g block with the 2g head
not the other way around
your best bet is to sell all of those newly aquired parts and buy some upgrades to your car
if your still using your 13b turbo i'd go a head and upgrade to the 14b

2g intake etc is fine for lower power levels, I slip the 1g throttle body on the 2g intake manifold and trace it.. bore the thing out to 60mm (not hard to do). So you end up running the 2g intake mani, the 1g throttle body(helps with throttle response even at stock levels), Bolt the 14b on there, port the lil bastard and go on with your bad self. If you really want to run the 1g head:

Everyone has their own opinions. But think about how much work it is vs how much power your going to make. RRE 2nd Generation Eclipse Upgrade Path and think about what your final goals are. If you like working on your car it might not be to much work, if you just want more power. Check out that link and they guide you through the process. Only thing I would change is DSMLINK as a substitution for super afc.

Yes, the intake ports are different.

To the OP, you can swap all that stuff onto your car but you'd be going to a setup that is not as good.

I really hope you aren't trying to port out a 2g IM to put on a 1g head. You WILL jack up the flow characterists and there isn't enough material to port out to make it match.

Now if you are porting the inlet of the 2g IM to match the 60mm 1g TB, then by all means go ahead. Just make sure to get all the nasties out of the IM.

oh well I plan on using the 1g throttle body and the 14b. does the 14b bolt up to the 2g manifold or will I need the 1g manifold also?

Use the 1G throttle body on the 2g manifold and 2g head. Use the 2g TB elbow. The 14b bolts right up. Go ahead and port the 2g manifold while you're at it.

As previously stated, the 2g head is going to gain you some torque and the top end is just as good as the 1g head. There are a handful of threads that have much more detailed information supporting why this is true. Personally, I would run the 2g head. If you're looking to get more out of the intake manifold just keep your eyes open for the Evo 3 intake manifolds on the classifieds... they pop up every now and then and are an upgrade to the 2g intake manifold.
