1g timing

Can someone point in the direction of steps of doing a boost leak test and also checking the timing. Assume I know little as a mechanic. I have ECMlink coming but have to do these steps first. I just want my car to run good.

The goal of a boost leak test is to pressurize the intake from the turbo inlet with slightly more pressure than your max boost. I use a tester "tool" that's made from a rubber coupler and pvc cap (from HomeDepot) with an air hose quick release coupler mounted in the pvc cap. See pic. Some people use a tire valve stem instead of an air hose coupler.
With the intake pressurized you listen for leaks and spray soapy water around suspect areas and look for bubbles. I spray all the charge pipe (or hoses if stock) connections/couplers, throttle body gasket areas, biss, isc, injectors, vacuum lines and their fittings such as fuel pressure regulator, brake booster vacuum line, pvc valve and line, bov, and anywhere else you hear a leak. Be aware that charge pipes or your tester could pop apart and scare you half to death with a loud pop. Fix as many leaks as you can, if not all of them and retest.
You might also hear air escaping into the crankcase. Pull your crankcase breather hose from the pass side of the valve cover and briefly hold your finger on the nipple, see if pressure releases when you let go. Some is normal, but a lot could indicate leaky piston rings, valves, valve stem seals, or through the turbo oil drain.
