I have a 90 GSX that is having some problems, I'm still learning so take it easy on me haha, I can line up the marks on the cam gears, and start it up and it runs fine for a very little while, then it starts running like crap and wanting to die, until I line the marks back up..Is this jumped timing or something else?

IF it is jumping time than you are setting the tension wrong, or the tensioner is bad. Are you able to reinstall the pin in the tensioner after you remove it and rotate the engine 6 times?

I just turned the crank and lined the marks up, I was doing it just to see if the marks lined up..I wasn't actually setting timing

I have not checked tension, does not seem to be any slack with the belt up top

So you are just turning the crank until the marks on the cams line up? I thought that you said you were setting the cam timing itself. If it runs fine sometimes than it isn't the timing. I would check the caps in the ecu and check the fuel pressure.

I doubt it's fuel related..It didn't do this until I did a wet compression test, since the compression dry test was showing 80 across the board, which was weird because it drove strong before the test..also cleaned the the intake manifold...

Regardless, It bogs and idles like crap, until I turn it off and turn the crank manually and line the marks up..Then it idles fine, and seems to idle fine and revs fine as well, then once I actually drive the car, it starts acting up again..

When you turn the engine to tdc it has nothing to do with what is going on. It is likely that there is a problem that is happening after it runs than when you shut it off it no longer does it. If the compression was at 80 during a dry test you have other problems. Do a leakdown test.
