First day of ownership went well! Pulled everything out from the car to see what all parts we had here. Threw the front end back on and now it looks like a car again. Have to fix some wiring for the driver side marker light/turn signal then that lense can go on. I'm gonna also try to get it washed up here and see how it really looks. Put power to it as well and everything turns on and works, windows, headlights pop up and down, interior lights, dash, etc. The timing belt doesn't look too bad so I may put a battery in it and see if it will crank on its own, turned it over by hand and it felt okay. Stay tuned!

Doesn't look half bad! Fixed that wiring for the marker light and got the lense and center badge on. Man I've always loved the Eagle logo on these things. I don't have a good enough battery here but I did get it to crank over (super slowly) am very eager to see if it'll fire up.

Well, got a battery thrown in the car. No luck, however it sounds great cranking over. Have spark I don't think we're getting fuel. I believe I can hear the injectors clicking, I'll have to get to the fuel pump and see if I can hear it or maybe give it some lucky taps and if it'll kick on. Worst case I'll pull the pump and see what's what. Engine bay is dirty/dusty but here's a pic only modification on it is someone took the cat off but it's in the trunk😅

Sure enough we got it to go today! It fired and sounded good. The idle however is not to happy 2k then starting to surge but there's a lot that needs done before this gets run anymore. Super excited! Did I mention I paid $450 for it😅

Honestly even if the belt looks good, with how dirty and neglected the car is I would still change it especially if the car sat outside for an extended period of time. These 4G63s don't play when it comes to timing belts. Glad it fired up for you though.

Oh I agree 100%. I won't be trying to start it anymore until we get some new parts catch it up on maintenance and such. I'm really thinking of pulling the engine to go through it and reseal it, fresh gaskets etc. good time to check the clutch

Hey man car is looking sweet!! I’m the guy that commented on your Facebook dsm group post asking you to make the build thread here! Will be following! Super jealous you have my favorite color, and got it for 450$! That’s crazy talk! How’d you manage that? Lol

Hey man! So ironically it worked out that when I had my Black 90Laser (also in my profile) I had sold it to a fella in Ohio. He had then sold it to another guy which was the guy who owned this car too (well actually it was the girlfriend's car). He had told me before about restoring this Talon but it never worked out and he had said about selling it sometime. After 6ish-7 months he kept dropping the price to the point he told me $500 come get it this week and well here we are now.

Small update I started to mess with the hydraulics a little bit as the clutch pedal is just about floppy (besides an inch or 2 on the floor), the slave cylinder is shot and I'll have to get a new one. Good time to get a SS braided clutch line 😉

Was a decent day outside and washed the Camaro so figured might as well do this thing while it's there. A clean eyesore is a happy one 😂 the hood latch is popped I didn't realize that til now but it's not bent. This thing unfortunately probably won't get money thrown at it until next year as my procharged Camaro has been my main focus. FORTUNATELY though the Camaro is just about done I'll toss a picture of it.

Well after tossing some ideas around in my head (which has been a back and forth battle🙃) my first thought was well this car is bone stock and I should restore it and leave it that way. However I have no intention to sell this car so resale value isn't a concern, considering what I paid for it and what I plan to put into it I'm sure if I would sell it I would make a nice chunk from it. Anyway I have come to the conclusion we are going to do a nice period correct old school build. Already located a Greddy Emanage ultimate (ironically it was my old one that I sold with my twin turbo stealth a few years back). Although a piggyback/standalone (such as this) is the last thing I need to worry about. Maintenance and everything is first priority I want to see this car run and drive BONE STOCK before a single mod gets bought or put on. I've seen too many half built cars that don't run right because lack of maintenance I managed to daily my Black 90 Laser at 400whp for the better half of a year and lots and lots of pulls😅. Stay tuned! It's all coming along

Did some wrenching on another talon (Timing belt, water pump, etc) and it got me itching to get mine apart😂

Non-turbo, auto, still a nice little daily driver. After even-ing up on a previous deal he also gave me these wheels. Definitely beat, but I think they'll clean up rather nice with some work

I did manage to get something done with my car despite this poor weather. Both door cards are removed and now cleaned up, looks good shame I don't think the seats will come out as nice. If anybody has leads on the porn red interior I'll be looking! Lol

Based on what I've seen from browsing Craigslist and FB Marketplace, the red interior seems to have been the most common in the base model Lasers.

His is in a white 92 fwd non turbo 2.0 6 bolt eclipse. I believe it to be factory because he got the car from an older lady that still had all of the original dealer paper work. Could have been swapped in though.

Ya know come to think of it, I had a friend who had a big turbo laser that was white and I'm fairly certain it had the red as well but it was in pretty bad shape from last I saw. That car is long gone unfortunately.

It was almost 50° outside so I got some work in on the Talon. Got this shift boot from a guy on the Facebook forums too, I think it'll look good once the car is cleaned up. Anyhow got a new slave cylinder put on the car and bled the hell out of it but couldn't get any clutch pedal and thought that was odd after awhile of this process I took a video to verify the slave cylinder was working and sure enough it was. It became problematic when it still wasn't disengaging the clutch and upon further looking none of the transmission bolts are in🤦. Someone was prepping to remove the trans from the car and figured to myself well no better time then now. Transfer case is off and compared to a spare one I have laying around I now have 2 Cases LOL, have to pull the axles out and move some things around but i'll have the trans out before ya know it. I was told this trans has 2nd gear issues (popping out and had to be held to stay in gear I think) unfortunately I won't know for sure until it runs and moves under it's own power

That's what's up! I believe you're about 2ish some hours from me! I have some pretty high hopes for this car but right now if I can have it running, driving "reliably" I'll be happy for a bit. I do have a 16g laying here though along with some other goodies but not just yet 😅

Well Merry Christmas everyone! The lady got me some nice tuners merch and I'm very thrilled to wear these around! Anybody else get some goodies this year?
