Oh I agree 100%. I won't be trying to start it anymore until we get some new parts catch it up on maintenance and such. I'm really thinking of pulling the engine to go through it and reseal it, fresh gaskets etc. good time to check the clutchHonestly even if the belt looks good, with how dirty and neglected the car is I would still change it especially if the car sat outside for an extended period of time. These 4G63s don't play when it comes to timing belts. Glad it fired up for you though.
Hey man! So ironically it worked out that when I had my Black 90Laser (also in my profile) I had sold it to a fella in Ohio. He had then sold it to another guy which was the guy who owned this car too (well actually it was the girlfriend's car). He had told me before about restoring this Talon but it never worked out and he had said about selling it sometime. After 6ish-7 months he kept dropping the price to the point he told me $500 come get it this week and well here we are now.Hey man car is looking sweet!! I’m the guy that commented on your Facebook dsm group post asking you to make the build thread here! Will be following! Super jealous you have my favorite color, and got it for 450$! That’s crazy talk! How’d you manage that? Lol
Hmm convenient I'm also in PAIv only ever seen one red interior, and it’s a buddy of mine in PA. I always wondered how common they were.
Based on what I've seen from browsing Craigslist and FB Marketplace, the red interior seems to have been the most common in the base model Lasers.
Ya know come to think of it, I had a friend who had a big turbo laser that was white and I'm fairly certain it had the red as well but it was in pretty bad shape from last I saw. That car is long gone unfortunately. His is in a white 92 fwd non turbo 2.0 6 bolt eclipse. I believe it to be factory because he got the car from an older lady that still had all of the original dealer paper work. Could have been swapped in though.
, have to pull the axles out and move some things around but i'll have the trans out before ya know it. I was told this trans has 2nd gear issues (popping out and had to be held to stay in gear I think) unfortunately I won't know for sure until it runs and moves under it's own powerGreat deal man keep us posted on your build I My self I'm restoring my 90 Talon I have the red carpet and black leather seats I bought from a fellow dsmer since years ago I find a red headliner with the moonruff cover for my car so exited to see your build I'm restoring my car from the ground up No bolts Nuts or screws would be unturned to be a street/show car with some muscle behind it
