alright guys, this is my first tech post but i've done some searching too on the subject. well im more than likely going to be receiving a 1g tsi fwd and my biggest concern is grip. if not now then in the future i'll be running her over the local 1/8 mile strip, where the seller says he runs 9.04s out there, all stock. now i know traction problems will arise sooner or later, and based on my findings this is the ideal setup to have a nice street and strip-capable car. considering i have 2 240sx hatchbacks, going to fwd is going to be a whole new bag of possums, i just hope they don't bite...too hard.

herein thy setup lies:

lower the front of the car, via springs like tein s tech. i hate sportlines, they gave me ell on my 240..

since i dont think there are factory-length springs for the rear, i'm thinking adjustable shocks

a Quaife LSD...eventually

decent tires on the front, if someone could shed some light on the subject of sizing i'd much appreciate. i want to keep the looking bone-stock, so any flaring would upset that. i want to eventually get a set of Motegi Traklites, 16" :)

well, my theory is this: by the lowering the front, it will shift more weight therefore traction to the front wheels. now ive also been thinking about the rebound of the shock. the natural tendency of the car when accerelating is to lurch upwards, and springs wouldn't help. so would adjustable shocks maybe help? and of course stiffening the rear would counter the weight shift, thus helping to maintain traction. and the LSD...well

now, I'm not looking to make ridiculous power i just want a competitive car at the track on weekends every now and then.

welcome to the dsm community first off! traction will def. be an issue only recommendation i can really make is a drag radial will help alot and be strip/street able like your looking to do.

To me the idea of what your thinking with the suspension is going to look weird for 1, and its probably best for a coilover type setup. I know from honda side of thingsa real stiff rear end is the way to go. i think, damn i cant remember now LOL its to late.

but good luck you'll learn alot on here and theres soo much knowledge to be had.

Thanks! true, i imagined the car sitting like a rwd musclecar, though i do love hot rods  i dont want to lower it so much as to be impractical for everyday driving. i reckon i'll just have to experiment with determining how the heights will affect the traction and find a setting suitable for daily driving as well. i noticed the k-sports coilovers in the parts section, any solid news on those? i've heard mixed experiences with them back on the ole nico forums.. i'll have some extra money on the way when i sell my 240 so i'm just kinda planning ahead a little bit. but reckon i'll search up what i can run on the fronts in a little while.. need sleep _-_zzzz

...turns out the tsi is a water car... :( one of the guys' friends i talked to tonight said the electrical goes haywire when the car gets wet.. on top of that, the guy with the tsi told me it needed cv axles, and here it is 3 times already he's run it at the track.. well... i did see some 1g awd's for sale on craigslist.. :toobad: any luck i have is bad luck
