same here, I would love the front subframe however I am just so nervous to order from him again.

I got lucky, mine was #10/10 so he had made the revisions prior to mine being built. I really want a rear subframe as well, but I just don't think I can order from him again.

I think he is in the jig system now so everything should be consistent from here on out. I just ordered both the front and rear from him recently. I will be posting this up in my build thread. If you are interested check it out.

I just ordered both the front and rear. I am going to write a review on it once i get it. I think he is a nice guy, but his business is growing and i don't think he has been able to keep up with the demands. I think this is why everything is taking so long.

The car has been treating me well, be enjoying it for a good while, put enough miles on it to be pretty confident in it not blowing up . Still haven't got a full tune on it yet, but its definitely good enough to drive around safely. Thinking about picking up a 20g that's local to me so no point in turning up the 14b.

Got the afpr and return lines finished up nicely. I couldn't find a spot I liked for it that didn't clutter up the part of the firewall that looks really good, so I made a little bracket to mount it above the brake booster. It's also mounted leaning back at an angle slightly for two reasons: 1) to clear the hood, and 2) so the fuel return fitting doesn't hit the booster. It snakes around the booster and down where the factory lines used to be, all the way back to the tank.
I also figured out that nut-zerts were a thing, and they are incredibly useful, and give a pro looking mounting solution pretty much anywhere you can drill a hole.





Also got the side moulding put back on, but I'm really not happy at all with the tape i used. It was supposed to be some really strong 3m tape, but looks like I'm peeling it off again sometime. I even clamped everything down for a few days, but it didn't want to stay.

I ordered a bunch of little OEM fasteners I needed to help clean up some of the interior. I found the door weather stripping T clips, and a whole box of those little screws littered throughout the interior, plus some grommets for them. New door panel clips will be here soon as well. It's little details like this that make a really nice car.
The driver side door kick panel had the tabs broken off so I found these little inserts for them.






Good as new after a little wipe down.

These are the little T clips. The old ones didn't stay in the door anymore. The weather stripping itself has seen much better days too, but at least it stays on the door now. The new one is the dark brown one.




And here's some nice pictures of the car since it's been out and about. (Ignore the filter and overflow bottle for now, they're just temporary until I come up with a cleaner unit.) Next thing I need to do is get the full exhaust fixed so I can breathe inside this thing


















^ Buddies MINT black cherry Talon. Daily driven, super low miles (I think it's around 70k), and makes like 500hp. These are the only two running 1g's anywhere nearby

Been meaning to do this for awhile, and finally got the old turbo cluster out of storage.

Pulled all the junk out of the oil pressure gauge socket, and used a little cut off wheel to knock out the supports for the screw holes. These screw holes came in handy for running the wires. Wasn't that hard really.. the worse part was trying to get the gauge itself centered. The little U bracket that comes with it to bolt it to a gauge pod had to be cut down and modified quite a bit, but I'm happy with how it came out.
The biggest reason for this was to not clutter up my OFH (and I don't have any more empty gauge pods). I didn't want to tee anything, which means I'd have to remove either the dummy light sensor, or the gauge sender. Remove the factory gauge and it's no longer an issue

More small issues taken care of..

With the help of a good buddy, I got the driver door hinges replaced, and the door/fender aligned pretty well. It was sagging enough to be annoying opening and closing the door. The car has definitely been in some wrecks before, so I don't know how straight I'll be able to get the panels without body work.. but it's really not THAT bad anymore.

Also got the oem door panel fasteners in. It sure is nice to have the real deal and not some generic clips.



Also fixed the passenger window. When rolling it up, once it got about halfway it would seemingly get caught and rock forward putting it in a bind. Turns out the little rubber sleeve it rides in had fallen all the way down. I cleaned them up real good and lubed the crap out of both sides and the work great now. Easy fix! ..and I thought I was gonna need a regulator or something.

I sure did. I was lucky to have a buddies parts car to get a few odds and ends from, and I was amazed at how well his door opened compared to mine . So I grabbed the hinges. I will admit that a simple adjustment may have fixed my issue also, but I figured I'd just replace them for the lower milage bushings and pins.

Since nobody offers a hood strut kit for our cars anymore, I decided to make my own, and for only $25.

All you will need is:

Started by taking off the hood and hinges and drill your hole.



I just happened to have a bit that was the perfect size for the stud, and the stud actually tapped itself going in.



This probably would have been just fine.. it was plenty strong. But after cutting down the stud so it wasn't so long (nearly flush), I went ahead and welded the back of it for added strength.

Replace this fender bolt with another stud.. it bolts right in.



Now just pop the struts on and you're good to go.













It's a pretty tight fit but there's really no way to mess it up. The ball end is just short enough to clear the fender with the strut attached.

Also fixed the strange issue I was having with the brake lights. They worked fine with headlights off, but when they were on, the driver side would shut off when applying the brakes. Apparently someone cut the ground to the bulbs, so the running lights were somehow grounding through the brake light + wire. So when applying the brakes, the + voltage was just shorting it out. New ground wire and they work perfect. They also match each other in brightness now

A few updates!

Got a full exhaust made up for the car, nothing special.. just 3" pipe from the down pipe back with a neat little tip I found for like $10 on summit. Looks great, sounds great, and doesn't rattle my skull anymore..







Found a nice set of foglights to cover up the holes. You could see the frame and everything without them so I figured I'd find a set and wire em up. This was what they looked like when I got them and after I cleaned them up. Didn't get as clear as I would have liked.. I think if I pop them open and clean the inside out too they would look even better.










Had to fab a little bracket to mount my dome light. I tried some magnetic strips but the sun melted the adhesive the first day it was on .





Ordered a OEM Honda mirror because it was cheap and OEM quality, and mounted it up as well.

Finally got around to re doing some of the wiring in the rear. No more temporary bullet connectors



And lastly just to brag a little bit, some friends talked me into bringing the car to TX2k17, so I went for it, and it didn't give me a SINGLE problem. There was maybe 80 miles on the motor, and I drove it 340 miles all to/around Houston and back to Orange. Drove x4 the miles that were on the motor in one trip haha.
The car (even more so Jake's 1g) got crazy attention from all kinds of people. Seems like everyone used to have a dsm back in the day and misses it like crazy.

Picking up a new front bumper tomorrow to replace the hacked one I have. That should make the front end look aloooooot better. Then I can start working on some of the god awful body lines

No I never had a side exit. That hole was there from the previous owner. It's kinda small so it must have been a dump tube. I had just a downpipe on it for a while and it was mind numbingly awful exiting directly under you in a gutted car.
No super 99, but I'll have something substantial sometime soon

I feel like I should update this and say that I have sold the car..
Just wanted to go a more OEM+ direction and this wasn't the car for it. I didn't have room to just store it so it had to go.

However! I did get a final night at the drag strip with it. On a 14b and stock bottom end I clicked off a 12.75 @ 104.8 with a 1.6 90'. Not too bad considering it was also on street tires.

So I stripped nearly everything out of it and sold it as a shell. I've been sitting on a MUCH nicer Talon for the last 2 years or so and have been working on it here and there. I hope to have it running by the end of the year and will be posting some pics and making a new build thread here: https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/oem-1g-talon.532370/#post-153787335
