1g shifter/starting problem

hi my buddy just did my clutch for me in my 91 talon tsi FWD we got everything back together and went to fire it up and all it did was click once everytime i tried to crank it i have power. and i can put it in any gear and still moce my shifter the full horizontal length of the shifter area in any gear.

did he put the tranny ground back on? bent cables?

as far as we know we got every cable back on in place and properly

take the plastic cover over the shifter in the car off........and make sure the cables are hooked up there also. also have a friend move shifter and look under hood and make sure the arms on trannny are moving

Regarding the clicking issue. This sounds like it could be as simple as a dying battery. Enough juice to turn on some dash lights, but not enough to spin the flywheel. Check the battery.

Make sure you put the ground strap back to a starter bolt to ground the starter correctly.

ok we got the car starte it was the ground strap to the starter but my battery is not recieving a charge it was before i did the clutch job. shifter linkage is all hooked up but went to move it and i have no reverse and when in 1st it chugged and made so ####ed noices the car ran mint before we did the clutch and flywheel swap
