I'm in the middle of removing my emissions & A/C system and wanted to know how to empty out the freon safely, thanks

safe way is to have it recovered back into a tank, but you could vent it to atmosphere if your not an environmental person (but I'm not the one that told you ;) ).

They should still be able to recover it not to mention quite a few shops will pay to get the R12.

I had to physically pull the 2 hard lines apart before it would leak out, it was a terrible mess. However I also had the appropriate APR on so I didn't have to worry about breathing in toxic gas.
