Hi I'm in the process changing my heater core, so I have everything open up.
I all ready have the A/C components removed from the engine compartment from a 6-bolt swap. I would like to remove the A/C coil box to save some weight and clutter.

Is there a duct box I could replace it with from a non-A/C car? Would it fit? I know alot of guys do A/C removal what do they usually do?

Thanks

it took reading your post a few times to really figure out what you were asking. So, you still want a fan/vent/heater, but just no A/C? If that's the case, I'll agree with Dave. IF, you are removing all air components, it's not that hard to pull the dash and yank all that crap out. Took me one sat. to remove ALL A/C components and everything associated, plus remove P/S.

I don't think removing the dash just to replace that one piece would be worth the effort even if they made something to fill the void. maybe a pound or two. And lets face it, if you were that concerned about weight, you'd be taking it all out. :thumb:

Pnishr I already the dash open to replace a bad heater core. I really don't need heat but need a defroster to defog the windows when it rains. Also noticed the engine bay seems cooler with the heater core hooked up. But I might just be imagining that.

If anyone is in the same situation I was you can remove the AC coil out of the duct box. Just cover up the hole that goes engine bay. Heater works fine. The AC coil has a little weight to it but why have something in your car if it isn't being used.

Also it opens up a nice hole thru the firewall to route wires.
