1g rear into a 2g?

If I was to purchase a 4bolt rear AND the matching axles from a 1g car can I swap them into my 2g?

I'm almost positive they mount up differently

NO, the rear diff housing from the 2G are different than the 1G, mounting bolts are not in the same location. I even think that the axles will not fit too cause the 2G got wider distance between each wheels.

No Go! The diffs are different, the axles are different, and the suspensions are different.

OP, you CAN swap the DIFFS but not the housings, as long as both are 4-bolt, and both are from M/T vehicles. Basically you would have to install your gear ring from your 2g onto the 1g diff, and shim them properly, but yes you can swap a 1g rear M/T 4-bolt diff into a 2g M/T rear housing.

The part numbers are the SAME.
