2G 1g rear diff internals in 2g housing

Can this be done? I just recently had my rear diff go out on me and have been searching posts but have yet to find a deffinant answer. Since 2g rear diffs are hard to come by i need to know if i can use the 1g 4bolt lsd rear ends internals in my 2g housing? Also do i need any parts to do this?

Its funny I was just having this thought the other day when I was on the phone with Road Race Engineering. Mine isn't broke but I just bought a 1g parts car and was wondering which was better. I was told that the 2g's are much stronger than either of the 1g's and unfortunatly not interchangable
