so ive been having trouble with this 91 tsi and not having spark.

i found out my ecu was bad so i sent it to get rebuilt and the tech told me about a sort of short possibly coming out of my isc or a fuel injector harness. i was supposed to get an email from autoecu.com telling me exactly what part/s was replaced but haven't.

well this part reduces the voltage from the fuel injection relay through the ecu allowing the motor to fire and turn on. as soon as i get a break from work im going to test the isc motor and check out the fuel injection harnesses to see if there is any physical damages on them.

maybe some of you fellow dsmers have had this type of ecu problem before. any bit of info is appreciated, cant wait to start running this car so i can start my project.

thanks. :talon:

Does it take a couple trys before it starts up? Does it start up and die? My 91 TSi is doing the following things starts at times right away and at times doesnt start up i havent tested my ecu yet but i might have a short to so we are on the same page! Any other tuners with this problem and can help us out?

I think I may have developed a similar problem with my car. It will let me start it this one day, but it flashed the CEL and I could hear it click at the ECU each time it flashed on. The first time this happened the car died out completely and would not start. I'm glad it happened at home and not on the road. I have had it in the garage waiting on a new clutch. Anyway I thought my 300+ sparky plug wires could be the culprit as there was a crack in one of them.

So the next day I tried it again and it fired up but started the CEL stutter again. I moved the wires up and down and it seemed to make a difference and I got it warmed up this time and all was good. Tonight I was looking at it in the dark to see any arcing and didn't see any. The car died twice but started up again. It stopped doing it after it warmed up and found idle. Is this the same as you guys or something else? I am scratching my head about it.
