Resolved 1g intake to a 2g head

I am wanting to install a 1g intake to my 2g head. Is the only thing that needs to be done is port-matching the head to the intake? I understand that the 1g intake ports are substantially larger than the intake ports on the 2g head. I bought the 1g intake gasket today and placed it on my 2g head and there is literally 3/8" too much aluminum on the head.

I guess, to put it another way, what is the difference between a 1g and a 2g head?

u got it - there is also no were to put your MDP sensor on a 1g intake.
u will have to 't' off somthing to get a new vacume source.

It would be alot easier to just get the 1g head. You'd have to remove a substancial amount of material on your 2g head. A good cheap upgrade would be the 1g throttle body however...you just need to port match your TB elbow and the opening in your intake manifold.

Many people will argue about the affectiveness of upgrading to a 1g head/intake mani, the 2g head/mani will be a big more responsive whereas the 1g head will flow more top-end. I'd say the mod is only worth it if you need to take the head off for some other reason. Otherwise stick with your head/intake and upgrade the TB.

That's the thing. The head is off the car right now, and it just received a nasty port & polish. It's still off and the 1g intake is in the mail! So, to match it to the head, I just need to port match it, right?

Obviously I am not interested in just getting a 1g head now, after the port and polish job!
