So I picked up a 90 Talon a little while ago while I finish installing parts on my 93 SHO , figured the coil was going bad , sure nough on my way to the parts store to get the coil I detonated a plug pretty bad , swapped plugs and towed the car home. Now I know I caused some damage either way the coil is going in today but I get some serious smoke out of the tail blue like crazy and I had oil fly out of the oil dip stick LOL. So I figure one of two things and the reason for this post .

1 - Rebuild

2 - Sell it for $750 take the lost

I want to give 1 a chance , couple years back I helped my pops rebuilt an awd but I had no hand in choosing parts , plus he just wanted to fix it to sell it , so the question after this long post is : If I was to rebuild this thing with a goal of 300hp or so where should I begin , what should I upgrade what should I keep stock , or should I just get rid of it?

P.S thanks for bearing with me I know this post is kind of long .

you have 6-bolt block. that can handle almost twice the hp goal you've suggested. . .

pull the head and the oil pan. check the block. It would be worth it. you can reuse the crank, pistons, probably even bearings (but replace them if you have any money left over). Spec the block clean it up and throw in new rings. Go to town. I can point you to at least 4 guys running over 500whp on the 6-bolt block!!!

. . . I take that back.It's trash. I'll take it off your hands for free ;) .

Yes pull the head off to see what damage is done. A rebuild is the best choice if you have the money, and you can rebuild to spec if you want to save yourself lots of money. If your planning on running around 300hp...the stock setup with a decent tune and a steady supply of boost will be NO problem.

No No, They are wrong.. All of them...

It's a 1g, be like everyone else and get a 2g. I'll get that pita off of you for 800! :)

Just playing, Listen to these guys and rebuild. These engines, can take... Well lets just say a lot. And are forgiving enough to let 80% of us drive around with things wrong or crappy tunes and still make it home to fix it :)
