1g fuel pump questions

Ok, im looking into buying a 91 Eclipse GSX, and i know my profile says i have it, but its the one i want so yeah . if i can get my questions answered i can tell this guy iwant it.
heres the deal


91 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
176,000 miles on the car
Fuel pump is out


for the moment it wont start and the guy says its cause of the fuel pump. Now i have a few questions that i cant find



1) does the turbo 1g's have a different fuel pump than the NA? (i know it sounds dumb but some cars dont, my friends 300ZX is like that the pump is different from NA to TT)

2)would a 2g (base model) FUEL PUMP (not the assembly) fit on and work decently? cause im sure i can get to one by the weekend.

3) the fuel pump at advance is 130 bucks, im looking into a junk yard for the car, and they have a laser, that could possibly have the pump, and i dont know if its Turbo or not, but if its NA, would that pump still work?

4) Advance has a list of Cars that THE FUEL PUMP for the 1g AWD Turbo Eclipse (not the whole assembly) that all work in different cars, doesnt that mean that i could get the pump from one of those cars from a junk yard and put it in and it would work correct?


help me out guys, i really want this car, but im limited to how much i can spend at the moment..

well the thing is im going the junk yard route first, to make sure the guy is sincere in it only being the fuel pump, because im gonna try and see if he will let me put the pump in and see if it works first before i pay for it, i dont want to dish out the cash, and it be much MORE major than a fuel pump. so basically if he lets me do this, and its only the fuel pump, ill pay him, if not, ill take my pump back out, and put his old one back in and go on and look for someone whos not lying to sell a car.

Well if you get a walbro 255 you will need a fuel pump regulator because that pump is too powerful for your stock regulator. So get a walbro 190. Much better than stock, yet you don't need a fpr.

Be advised that the 255lph unit will overrun your stock FPR.

no, im thinking it could also probably be the relay, which would just be AMAZING!

Check to see if your relay is clicking .But more than likely it is the pump.

It's clear you've never done the fuel pump on a 1G before. They can be seriously rusted PITAs that break the fuel line and mounting studs if you look at them sideways.

I'd take a multimeter, a 10 gauge wire with clips on it to try powering the pump from the check connector, and some starting fluid. See if it fires with starting fluid, measure the voltage at the fuel pump check connector while cranking, and try powering the pump from the check connector to the battery. If you had access to a datalogger you could test the pump with it too.

While your at it make a note if the check engine light turns on for 5 seconds when you turn the ignition on and that the boost gauge moves to 0 until starts cranking. Those are signs that the ECU is working. Without them the engine isn't going to do anything interesting.
