Ok, I have a 97 TSi AWD Talon, and I'd like to get a lower mileage engine in there before modding it. What I wanted to know was, the 6-bolt engine swap guide is a 1g engine into a 2g, corect? The chassis has 127k on it, so I think it should be fine. I was going to order this package here
http://www.jspecautosports.com/catalog_product.aspx?prod_id=63
and then have my dad and brother help me put it in. Do I need this one, or just the TSi engine itself? I've never done swaps before, and have NO clue.

Think this should work fine? I plan on having the car be a daily driver for a couple years, and just be like, a street machine. Not full out drag racer, but like, about 300-325hp. Just enough to pick up and go, and have power when I need it.

Anways, I'd have parts from my 2g tsi awd engine (if needed) and then the tranny, then buy the 1g tsi awd engine + tranny to drop in there. Will I refer to the 6bolt swap guide or is there a different guide I have to refer to?

Whats wrong with your motor now? Test the compression, leakdown, and maybe drop the pan and look at things internally, but if they all turn out fine I'd say dont' fix it if it ain't broke. Most of the mods you will put into it will transfer over to a 6-bolt if you decide to go that route later on, so your really not out anything.

Also, for 1800 you could put together your own 6-bolt with some forged internals. Its really not a hard process...if I can do it you can, trust me.

As for the transmission, I believe for the 97+ models, they changed the gear ratios a bit so you can't use the 1g tranny/ transfer case. Keep your tranny and case for if/when you put your 6-bolt in.

If you are dead set on getting a 6-bolt anyways, it is far cheaper to put one together yourself or take the parts to a machine shop and have them build it. You can start doing that now while you still have a working car to drive and take a weekend to swap out the motors and have yourself a nicely built 6-bolt.
