Yes I know "use the search button". I did search but did not come up with exactly what I was looking for.

I have a 1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD Automatic and I am looking to get DSMlink. I was told I can use 'link v2.5. And since I see v2.5 being used in 1g's I asked a friend of mine if I can use an already set up 1g ECU in my 2g (setup=ready to be put into the car). Now from the information I found when searching, what I took away from it is I need to redo something with the wiring to the ECU's connector for the 1g ECU to work in a 2g. And also besides that, if I just randomly pick up any 1g ECU, will it work with the 2g's Automatic trans or do I need to specifically get a ECU out of an Automatic 1g?

So I guess you could say my question is; What does it take to use a 1g ECU in a 2g?

I would rather be informed so I know EXACTLY what I'm doing or need to do so I do not screw anything up.

(Also, if you do not understand what I am asking, please ask exactly what you are not understanding so I can explain what my question(s) is/are.)
Thanks.

Absolutely not. Don't get me wrong, "anything is possible", but you'd be wasting so much time and money it wouldn't even be funny. You need a 2g ecu (eprom or non), then you should just buy a new ECMLink V3 package, either a lite package or the full package. I'm not knocking V2.5, but since you can't use the 1g ecu and you'll have to source a 2g ecmlink/dsmlink anyhow I'd just go for the V3 software.

I am confused then as to why he would say I could use v2.5 or a 1g ECU in the first place... Believe me, he knows what he's talking about (he's not blowing smoke). I believe he has had about 7 DSMs so he is not new to the scene. Or modifying for that matter.. To be honest, I am a tad more confused now than before, haha.

But I was thinking going for V3 if I can find it cheap enough (I can dream, right?) or V3 Lite..

v2.5 comes in both 1g and 2g varieties. People have used 1g ECU's in 2g's before, but I don't know what exactly it takes to make it work. I know it's typically more work than a lot of people want to put into it.

I'd say pull your ECU and see what you have. Being a '95, you might already have an EPROM. Then get it socketed and get a link package - whichever fits your budget.

I do have an EPROM ECU. I opened the case and found an "E" on whatever it was I was supposed to check. (I only forget what because I checked a few months ago). So V3 would be my best bet?

If so, I had better start saving now..
