So ive read all the threads i could find on here about starting electrical issues and this is my first thread so i hope i post this in the right location. So i bought a 92 plymouth laser shell got it to running state and now issues have surfaced so heres the run down.

new battery cables from the trunk to under the hood connecting to a powerblock
which runs to the fuse box, starter, and ground

i can start the car by jumping it under the hood by the starter, the key will not crank it over it just clicks. theres no issue with the fuse, it starts my friends eclipse.
my ecu is in working condition no issues.
we disabled the clutch safety start switch still nothing
no popped fuses. starter is good, battery is good.

any ideas?:banghead:

If it works jumping it out under the hood that usually means that the starter is ok. That leads me to believe there is a problem with the starter engage switch . This is located in the steering column right near the ignition switch. To test if this is the problem unplug the small wire on on the starter. Have someone turn the ignition switch as if they are trying to start the car. Make sure you are getting 12 volts when cranking.

im betting you used an insufficient gauge cable for the battery relocation if it will start when you jump it. And make sure you used a solid copper not a cca cable for this. a cca is very poor for conductivity where a battery is concerned.

Most sites with relocation info or kits will use a 2 or 0 gauge cable for the run to the engine bay. or a 4 gauge to both the starter and a 4 gauge to the other accessories.

0 gauge solid copper was used for the battery cable all high quality stuff for the battery and grounds. We also checked that switch and still got a solid reading on it. I get a clicking under the dash when trying to start it. All the fuses are good and im guessing im gonna have to follow the all the wires to the bay. My harness was hacked from the last person who didnt believe in soldering wires and classic oil soak.

IF it starts when you jump the solenoid than it is not the starter or cables. It is in the wire, starter relay, or clutch switch.

The clutch switch has been jumped and still same issue, starter relay works in another dsm without issue. My guess is like i said a good old fashion wiring hunt.

its been clutch switch is gone and suddenly after getting it running by the key, i lost spark to my plugs. ugh

the switch has been pulled and gone. im gonna go through the harness for the rigged turbo timer harness that was in there. my coil plug was also shredded so issue solved. thanks guys
