1g coil packs on a 2g with 6 bolt swap

I am finishing up my 6 bolt swap on my second gen. And I have the coil packs off of my first gen. I was wondering if they would work for my second gen. I think they have the same plug.

I use both 1G coil pack and transistor.

I run a 1g coil pack, and a 2g transistor. Works fine.

I assume that you're doing a 1G headswap and wanted to keep the coilpack bracket with the 1G coils. I did this when I put a 1G head on my 2G as well. Personally, I had issues with using 1G coils on a 2G ignitor. I have spoken to many folks who stated that this should not have happened, but it did anyway. I would experience all kinds of wierd effects with the 1G/2G setup, like hard starting, intermittent misfire, and some stumbling under boost. I tried three different ignitors and three different coil packs, all with the same results. I finally hacked the 1G coil pack bracket to accept my old 2G coils, and ignition has been great since.

Info is there. People have done it. It's what is suggested on Magnus's 1G Engine in a 2G swap article (page 5). Might you have trouble like the last guy? I can't call him a liar.

Edit: This assumes a '91-'94 coil as the '90 is obviously different.

When I did my 6 bolt swap, I used the 1g Coil Pack and Resistor, I never had a problem with that set up.
I am using Coil on Plug right now though.

Yes if you switch the 2 coil signal wires.
