I'm trying to take out my vent in my car, i'm going to put an oil pressure gauge in place of one of the vents, but i can't figure out how to take it off. i tryed unscrewing the whole peice but that won't come off either. I thought you could probably just pop it out, but i tryed it seems like it would but i don't want to put too much pressure on it, because i don't want it to break.

So, do i just pop it off or how do you get that thing out????? incase someone doesn't know which vent i'm talking about this one.

Inside of the center vent on each side there is a metal tab. Use a flathead screw driver to bend the tabs up while pulling the vent forward.

Thank you!

I hate those tabs! It always seems like you're going to tear up your center vents. Last time I took those out I'd never been so mad. Thank god for parts cars! ;) Anyone have any techniques on getting those out easier. Ya know kinda like the one handed bra removal technique.

Now that I think about it I don't know which is easier! :D

That made it so easy. thank you.
No, no techniches from me, once you find the tabs just put the flat head in there and pull a little, easy easy. :thumb:

check out my webpage... i have a simple how-to from when i molded my guages in the center vent. it's pretty basic, with only a few pictures (cuz i lost the rest) but it may help you. all you'd need to do is half of what i did. and leave the other half a vent.

if you need help, feel free to email me with Q's.

I know it's not fair, and I apologize for the hijack.

But at least you win an ice cream cone.
