1g CAS wiring in 2g. Can't locate Cam Sensor Plug.

Ok, so I have all but finished my 6 bolt swap into my 97 GST. Just pluging in and wiring everything. I am using the green top CAS plug type. I can locate my crank sensor. Its the triangle plug below the intake cam. But I do not know what to splice into or plug in to for my cam sensor. The one plug I do have open is the old cam sensor plug that plugged into my 97 CAS. Do I cut that off and wire into those wires.
Please don't just post up RRE or Magnus links. i have read over all of them. I know how to wire it just don't know where to wire. They don't show pictures on those sites of where it is.
If anyone has pics of these that would help me out greatly.

RRE Instructions

This is straight from the RRE website, just scroll down and keep reading over and over until it makes sense. If it doesn't just call the number all the way down at the bottom of the page and call RRE, they know their DSM's.

The cps/cas connectors sit right next to each other on your car, the cam sensor plug is a small square with 3 pins inside which plugs into your '97 CAS.

Yes it will work. The wiring isn't CAS specific, since the plugs are the same.

yes, your just wiring in the 1g CAS into the 2g CAS/CPS because the 1g doesn't have a CPS. (crank pos. sensor) The original CAS connector on your 2g shouldn't be by the waterneck though...

The method for a 95-96 is a little bit different because you need to invert the cam signal. Heres what the wiring would look like on a 95-96 running a 1g CAS...

On top of the wiring you'll also need to invert the signal by moving a few wires around on the ECU harness, heres the write up from Road Race. If you run dsmlink though none of the below is necessary since you can do all this with a click of the button...

When removing the pins on your ECU wiring harness be patient and delicate. It requires no force to remove the pins. Consult the diagram in the front of your electrical service manual regarding the proper way to inspect and remove pins. You will need a tiny jewelers screwdriver, (1/16 in) to release a plastic catch holding the pin's in. Use a flashlight and take a good look at the harness before beginning.

Green: Pin 1 is now 14
Green w/ yellow stripe: Pin 2, is now Pin 1
Green w/ red stripe: Pin 15, is now Pin 2
Yellow w/ black stripe: Pin 14 is now Pin 15

The spark coil signal is inverted. Looking at the coils, label each wire A,B,C,D. Change the spark plug wire locations: A is now C, B is now D, C is now A and D is now B. Another way to do this is to change the trigger wires to the coil, (3 wire triangle plug, next to the igniter). Switch the two blue wires. One is blue with red stripe, the other is blue with black stripe. The third wire that remains unchanged is black with white stripe.

so what do i do with the 6 wires the 2 red, 2 black, 2 blue. wires. the two plugs that get unplugged from the sensors. the traingle, rectangle ones? female side plug?


do i connect the 1g CAS to the plugs behind the head by the timming cover, the male side plug... or does the 1g CAS connect to the plugs that runs above the injectors? the female side plug? the plugs that come from the harness?

Hey so to what gofer said, I can go into dsmlink and switch it to 1g CAS so I don't need to change around ignition, or fuel injector wire??

I'm stuck on this one. Waiting to get a tune.

thanks guys this thread helped me i couldnt figure out where the extra wire on my 1g in a 2g cas connector went that i ordered but now i see that it goes to the wire in the middle of cas plug

Another way to keep from splicing the wires is to buy the harness from RRE. They make a real nice harness that is just plug and play for the 1G CAS in a 2G.

If you have a 95 you can just cut the wires off your original crank and cam sensors at the sensors and then you get to still use the plugs in the wiring harness. I got a 90' cas so I could take it apart and wire my pigtails directly into the cas.

I would suggest you go to your local yard and just make the dang plug; so if you ever need to go back you can! If you still need help pm me.

I have not seen jnz's plug..as long as there adapter plug has nothing else on the male side then you're fine. Remember to put some shrink wrap and electrical tape around that soldered wire you have there!
