I did not find this question answered anywhere so i am posting it here. I have currently on my 2g an evo8 mr bov. I love it, it sounds nice and holds boost good, and when i rev it in idle and let go of the gas it blows off and goes back to idling good without dying. Early this morning i put on a 1g BOV a buddy gave me and i slapped it on and after doing a few revs it would blow off and the rpm would drop to 500 almost dying and then come back up to idle. Both bov were venting. Why does the 1g die and my evo doesn't ? I know the evo bov has a better spring but is the 1g that bad that it always dies when i rev ? Help please. I am recirculating it soon, i am just waiting to get my new upper ic pipes and i dont want oil getting into my new intake :coy:

the 1g may be leaking i would check it with a pressure tester

Actually, wouldnt you think that the EVO BOV perhaps was not venting completely and that the 1g is good, causing the car to stumble?

its possible either way ive run into the same issue for a leaky bov to a stiff bov i would still pressure test it

I doubt the a fairly new evo bov would not vent correctly. I would crush the 1g bov but its not mine. I'm going to get a greddy rs, i just wanted to use the 1g for the meantime since it had that little nice chirp at the end but its not worth it if it will make the car die after every blowoff. I'll just leave the evo bov on till i get my greddy.

This is why BOV venting doesn't work on a DSM. Do not do it.

+2 Venting on a 2G MAS FTL!!! Do yourself and your car a favor and put the recirculating fitting back on. Thats all your doing is hurting your motor. Also I dont no if you have relized it but your car is actually slower now.

This could of easily been searched, just another one of the already hundreds of threads, my cars not running right, whats causing this and my BOV is vented. Hmmmm, why dont you start by recicrulating your BOV.

I had written that my car runs perfectly fine with the vented evo bov LOL. It only does it with the 1g which i am not using anymore.

No you think its running fine with it vented, but once you hook up a logger and actually see what your car is doing you will think different. I love how people think that you can vent on a stock MAS and not have any problems. Do I really need to post up some threads on how venting on a stock MAS is bad for your car. This is probally the most beaten to death topic on this website.

I find it funny on how people would rather have the vented BOV sound and have there car run slower (aka ricer). Then have the BOV recirculated and not hear the BOV as much but have a faster car.

I know its not the correct thing to do just trying to keep oil out of my system till i get my new intercooler pipes in the mail. Afterwards i will install everything back on and recirc it. Im not racing the car or flooring it at the moment.

How is that going to keep oil out of the system? What do you mean by this? If you have oil in your Intercooler pipes you got other problems.

It will keep the old accumulated oil from blowing back into my intake. It is the oil buildup from the years the car had accumulated oil through the intake from the vc hose.

Your ECU has been doing the equivalent of sitting atop the very pointy-most tip of Washington Monument and settling itself down around it far enough to obscure the observation windows in its gallant but foolhardy attempt to keep your engine running with the challenge of a half-dollar sized hole in the intake which opens to atmosphere whenever you let-off the throttle. You then have changed the equation by putting in a different vacuum leak, something like asking the uncomfortably-nestled ECU to just hold this dump truck axle while trying to balance-out your new disconfiguration of the breathing system.

Until you've gone back to recirculation and given the ECU time to re-map its error adjustments, you will not be able to do any kind of worthwhile tuning. It will need some time to let its stretching come back into spec. LOL.

Nice informational speech. I will, for the sake of my dsm, go put on my recirc tube on since i now have the dejontool upper ic "L" pipe in. Sorry for the "noobie" trouble :coy: LOL
