So , I've been thinking about doing a PTE 50 trim build soon. My profile is correct, but I've installed a walboro 255 and aeromotive fpr.

My question is about my 1g 7bolt block. My head is stock , but I was thinking about FP2 cams along with the 50 trim. I will be using DSMLINK to tune. My 7bolt was rebuilt about a year ago and has been running strong since. Mileage on the car is 106k and the rebuild was at about 100k.

My goal is to build about 375-400 whp. I currently daily drive the car now at 12 psi with no issues. Will a 1g 7bolt block be able to withstand 375-400 whp RELIABLY? The car won't see the track.... just a weekend/ fun car.

There's no exact amount of time a motor is going to last. Some 1G 7 bolts have supported somewhere around those levels for a good amount of time, but it's inevitable that eventually you're going to be fixing something because that's a lot of explosive power. Usually a motor like that goes because of something else rather than just a full on grenade. I'd say you could have a couple nice seasons at the 350whp level on a 1G 7 bolt. Of course that's speculation because by some act of God it could go longer or more likely it will let go sooner. It's all a big what if. I can tell you that the 1G 7 bolt is a worse motor than a 6 bolt and 2G 7 bolt. I'm basing that off rod diameter, piston weight, and cylinder head efficiency among other things.

How do you know this?

What is the "weak link" in a 1g 7bolt?

From what I've read, a 1g 7bolt is better than a 2g..... just from what I've found.

I think as long as the car is tuned safe, watching for knock, ignition timing, a/f ratios, keeping the boost under 22 psi, and driven on pump gas, as long as you take some good care of it, keep the maintenance up to date and all that, I think the car will last you quite a bit.

I agree with him ^^^. Im planning on doing the same setup. Just as long as your tuned right and low psi its just as good as stock
