1g 7bolt vs. 2g 7bolt

Wondering what the difference is in the blocks. I have a 2g 7bolt motor, but got a sweet deal on a already machined block from a 1g 7bolt. Just want to know if everything bolts onto it like a 2g 7bolt, or what needs to be switched.

One thing I know that is different is the timing belt tensioner. Other than that, there may be a few small things, but they're pretty much the same. I have a 1g 7 bolt in my car and just use CAPS to figure out what parts I need.

Pretty much my options are open on the head. I just want to make sure the block will work with the tranny, and motor mounts or will I have to use different mounts and a tranny.

I have a 1g head on my car. I have 2g motor mounts holding everything in.

As for which head, the 1g has larger port sizes, but the 2g supposedly has better flow patterns. There are a few threads on here debating which head to use. My guess is that unless you're going for really big numbers, either head will work fine and you won't notice much of a difference. If you want to use the 1g head, check out this site:

The transmissions will bolt up to any 1g or 2g 4g63 block. The motor mounts are different between 1G's and 2G's though.

Okay, I started to think about this. There is really no way to use the 1g motor mounts, since the 2g has all the mounts on the transmission.

You have to use 2g motor mounts in a 2g, no matter what block you use.
