Hi guys,
I own 2g 7 bolt and let me tell you, it has over 150,000 miles on it. I doubt it will ever be a problem in the future. If anything, I think my engine will go out and I will never expirience crankwalk.

LOL... this must be a really "inexpirienced" (cough cough) DSMER, dont ever say a 7bolt will never crankwalk.... your just a complete moron, and dont ever say any DSM motor will have a problem in the future, thats like saying "Ive had sexual intercourse with 100's of hookers and i doubt i have any kind of STD, nor in the future will i get any STD's while sleeping with random sex slaves.

plainly your a confused 2g driver.

I don't know who is telling you that but they are wrong. The 7 bolts have a factory defect and have a tendency to "crankwalk." The 6 bolt motors are much stronger. This is why a lot of 2g guys do the 6 bolt swap. Your car is a 92 so it's possible that you have a 6 bolt motor. Check the build date in the door jam of your driver's door. If your car was built before 5/92 (i think) then it is a 6 bolt. If built after it's a 7 bolt. If you do have a 6 bolt, like I do, then your golden because you also have a stronger 4 bolt rear end.

Who told you that the 7 bolts have a "factory defect"? Just because the 7-bolts are more prone to crank walk than the 6-bolts does not mean that the 7-bolts have a deffect. It just means the 6-bolts will hardly ever crank walk.

Th dates you've mentioned is good info:thumb:

Everyone is missing the real advantages of the 6-bolt engine:

Fatter rods
Wider non-torque-to-yield head studs

This allows over 500whp on a daily driver.

Also 6-bolts and pre-1995 7-bolts have lower compression which lets us get away with more boost. More boost is more airflow. More airflow = more power. I'm not saying thi s is an advantage. But most find it so (including shep).

The main reason the 2g 7 bolt engines Some times tend to crankwalk is because the different oiling system for the pistons.

In my view the best one is the 1g 7 bolt with is a totally different engine then the 2g 7 bolt. the 1g 7 bolt has the awesome block girdle and is a stronger block,.

But w.e the whole crank walk issue is hugly overrated. Yes it does happen somtimes but any engine can. even the 6 bolts. but since they have a better oiling system for the pistons they usually dont. but they share the same system as the 1g 7 bolts.

Do you mean the actual block? or the internals? Either way, ALL dsm blocks have the same durability. 2g blocks have gone jsut as far as 1Gb 7-bolts. They both have the small rods. All teh reliability is the same between the two.

And only 6-bolt blocks came with the stronger internals. 6-bolt blocks (meaning the internals) are stronger than 7-bolt 1Gb blocks (meaning the internals).

Look if you want to troll, this aint the forums to do so. If you read carefuly my previous post, you noticed I said " I doubt it will ever be a problem in the future. If anything, I think my engine will go out and I will never expirience crankwalk ".
Meaning, the engine will die soon to even have a chance to crankwalk.
