1g 7bolt or 2g 7bolt

i just purchased an engine and it a 7bolt supposed to be 1g because it say it fits 90-94 eclipse so thats why im guessing it 1g.my questions is can there be a way to tell the difference between a 1g 7bolt and a 2g seven bolt.the engine is going in a 1992 eclipse 6bolt im pretty sure everything just bolts up if it is a 1g 7bolt right

Did you get a full long block or just the short block?

There's a few differences that you can look for, depending on what you got.

its the whole motor with head.valve cover manifold everything..it was shipped from japan

The easiest way to tell is the intake manifold. You have pictures? Or you can just compare it to engines you see on this site.

i could take pic but idk if i can post pic yet since im a knew member.the only thing i notice different from my old engine is that the throttle position sensor is on the other side of the throttle body and also one of the coolent temp sensor is in the opposite side as well and it has a red valve cover.then the exhaust manifold is different as well like it looks bigger it dont have any spaces between the tubes its all sealed

Yea post a picture. Look at the engine mount...is it the same as your engine mount? does it say Multi port on the intake manifold?

easiest way to tell the difference that comes to mind is check the driver side motor mount (timing component side of the engine.) compare it to your mount. the 2G mount is different, the 1G mount has provisions for the the L-Shaped mount bracket that bolts to the area behind the power steering pump and right below the intake cam on the block

I dunno. It has a CAS like a 93-94, but... looks like a second gen manifold, water outlet, coils, front engine mount, cam gears. N/A though... Hmmm. My best guess would probably be a 95 JDM galant. I've never seen this particular combo of stock pieces stuck together.

Any idea what car it came from? Kind of looks like a 2g (looking at the thermostat housing and intake manifold), but the intake manifold is not a 2g. The CAS is a late 1g and the cam gears and drivers side motor mount are from a 2g. Unless the N/T's were that different.

Look on the transmission side of the block, just below the cylinder head towards the intake side. There should be a flat surface with the VIN stamped there.

no idea from what i read on the website the motor came from is supposed to fit 1990-94 eclipse and eagle talon thats all the real info i have other then the millage is any where from 25-35 thousand

the only number i see is 356 g1-561 and thats on a metal plate that like around the flywheel you can see it in the pic.there no other number unless im looking wrong

Looks like Evo III engine to me....but why does it have the NT exhaust manifold??! Must be Galant or something.

It will fit in your car with a few small mods. Like swap the engine mount and timing tension bracket with the one on your engine. Get a 2g lower radiator hose. and probably a few other things I can't think of.

nope there no number around there and i just cleaned it with degreaser and nothing.there a sticker on the block but the number are in japenese so idk..i looked under the motor mount at it say 4g6 idk if that helps.so does anybody know for sure what engine i have or if they know what i need to do to get it to fit my car.i have all the parts from my 1g 6 bolt so any parts that i have to change i can do with no problem

i guess my real question is will this 7bolt engine fit my 6bolt tranny and what about the motor mounts will they work?

honestly. looks like its most likely a 1g to me. as far as the basic layout of the engine is anyway. although i have been wrong before

Could you post more photos? I haven't taken my engine out yet from the engine bay so I can't figure out if its a 4g63 N/A. All the engines from dsms galants and evos look the same from the top

You should be fine with your install, Im assuming your using the Engine as is but have a manual tranny? 1g's have the adjustable CAS sensor, first sign! Elbow on the TB is a dead givaway as well, also the Coil is mounted differently. As long as your original mounts are the same, what are you waiting for -put it in already!
