What would a 91 GSX with K&N Filter and short shift kit run in the quarter mile??? I dont really have time to hit up the track, and I haven't found anywhere with stock 1/4 miles times. so im curious.

Is that all you have? No other free mods or exhaust? Stock clutch? Miles? If that is it, a good driver can probably hit mid to high 14s. I think? The short throw shifter helps a lot though.

disconnect the down pipe, through in some race gas. buy a cheep boost guage, and a manual boost controller. do free mods. low 14s high 13s...enjoy! :talon:

I was wondering what u guys shift at ? I feel a power loss after 6 rpm. So when running the 1/4 miles what do u guys shift at ?

In first gear I take all the way to rev limiter(Im a 12 second FWD). If I were you I would take 1st to 7000, 2nd problebly to about 6800rpm, 3rd to 6500. But really you want to shift when you are out of your power band! :talon:

If I can remember correctly. (I never redlined the car)
1st 6500
2nd ~6200
3rd ~6400
and I just put it into 4th at the end of the track.

I found I netted my best times with those shift points. A stock car runs out pretty quickly in the topend. This was with a 1.89-1.92 60ft times on the stock clutch.

A stock or nearly stock car is better off staying in 3rd gear. Shifting to 4th just before the line takes more time than you would loose by staying in 3rd slightly past the power band. If you're trapping around the mid 90 MPH range then it's better to shift into 4th.

When I was running mid 13's and high 12's on the 14b I would shift 1>2 at 6600, 2>3 at 6200, 3>4 at 6000.
