My 1998 eclipse will only open from inside.
It was sticking for awhile so I sprayed lubricant on the hinges and silicon on the door seals but now the door won’t open using the outside handle only the inside one will open door.
A few years ago I replace the passenger side door handle because it was broken but the driver side door doesn’t feel like the passenger side one did when it broke.
I did notice that one of the black rubber spacers is

Other it snapped 1 of the hinges and hanging on to the cup with the other...or the clip that holds the rod to lever the door handle to open broke...regardless you need to open it up to see exactly what happen...these are 2g worst enemy and there's a group buy to for full aluminum door handles(1pair) in the classifieds it ends soon and for a DSM it is a must have!!!

This happened to my passenger door, but because it's a "race car" I just lived with it, until the same happened to the drivers door. After a few events climbing in the hatch, I pulled the interior drivers door panel, and discovered that the arm attached to the exterior handle has a slot in it that allows the inner handle to unlatch the door without moving the outer handle. For some reason the slot wasn't "reaching" the lever to unlatch anymore, since I don't have tiny hands, I just fed a couple zip ties thru the slot and cinched them tight. The external handle feel isn't quite right, but it opens the door now.

Damn something similar happened to me, the lock rod broke off the slot on the passenger side for me after I discovered the car had a keyless entry thats the what use to unlock the passenger door(13years ago when got the car)...eventually ill replace it but I'm fine living it

Same thing happened to my passenger door. Instead of zipties I used a small nut and bolt. It was hard to fit my hands in there, very very tight workspace.
