Hello,
I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST with a factory sunroof. The sunroof was not opening correctly (one side would move the other would not). I believe this means the sunroof motor has gone bad. (I am by no means a mechanic)

The glass and rails have been destroyed. I feel I will need to replace the entire sunroof assembly. My questions:

Can someone direct me to instructions on how to replace the entire sunroof assembly?

Can someone direct me to the best place to buy a replacement sunroof assembly?

Thanks for your help,
Nick

If one side is barely off and won't close all the way or opens in a rough manner, all this means is you probably hit a bump with the sunroof open and it is now off track.
my mechanic just fidgeted with it for literally 90 seconds and pushed it this way and that way while opening and close it and got it back aligned. see if you know anyone who could mess with it or maybe a shop, it takes no time and don't let a shop try to convince you otherwise and rip you off

granted this is just a guess, the more details you give us the better we can diagnose your problem

Unfortunately the glass has been destroyed along with the rails. I'm looking art replacement now....

Check your local salvage yard for a sebring or avenger that the sunroof assembly is still there.Buy it and swap it with your broken one.

It's not too bad, once you get the headliner down, you'll see the bolts that hold the frame in. The sunroof motor and everything can be taken out with the framing. The hardest part is getting the drains free from the car's pillars.

Bud is correct, the avenger/sebring (coupes) run the same sunroof assembly, so you can look for those, as well.

Are we talking about 95 seabring and avengers?

I found one for $250. If it's really as easy as a few screws and a headliner I may just do it myself. Would also give me a chance to get rid of the gray headliner....
Although, I seriously am not a mechanic, does anyone have a link or something to instructions so I can limit my chances of screwing up?

Thanks,
Nick

Ok,
I called M&S Recycling in CA (800-695-4760) but they did not have the part. M&S referred me to KHS (916-858-2630) they did have the parts. $150 plus shipping for a complete sunroof assembly.

Transaction was quick and smooth. I'll let you know how them get to me.

Also, found a wiki on headliner replacement;
How do you replace headliner on Mitsubishi eclipse 1996

thanks for all your help guys, i'll also let you know how bad i screw up the install ;)
