Resolved 1995 Eclipse GST Mods?

hello all, i just picked my self up a 95 gst about 2 months ago. the car is a 5 speed and turbo in great shape. the kid i got it from did some work to it and i wanna finish and make it stupid fast. he cambered to tires, added a K&N filter and tuned the motor and turbo he said. i wanna know where i should go from here. im not made of money and cant drop alot of $ in a sitting. where should i start with making it fast. i was thinking bout a front mount intercooler but dont know. any help would be great.

Yes ive had alot of problems with mine. But that is due to a dumb f*cking mechanic who screwed me over several times, so don't let my experience scare you. Do all your maitance first before you start any major upgrades. Also do a boost leak test.

you have to make a boost leak tester: you can go to lowes and create a tester out of PVC piping and hook it up to an air tank with a regulator on it -- i wouldnt personally go above 20psi -- that will let you know where things are leaking if there is indeed a boost leak -- so basically you make yourself a air tight configuration with a air nipple on the end of it and then you get a rubber culpler with two bands and tighten the crap out of them when Boost leak testing

you can attach the BLT to the throttle body first then to the bottom of your side mount intercooler then attach it to your turbo inlet ( the place where your intake attaches to your turbo)

if everything checks out and you hear no air escaping then you are boost leak free my friend

Have your fuel pump rewired. Most kits are roughly 30 bucks, and when you go to turn up the boost, you won't have to worry about leaning out...unless you go to a bigger turbo of course

Do you have a link to the rewire kit? How much boost could you run stock with the rewire without hitting fuel cut?

Cambered the tires how? Does it have the Fast and Furious mad-tyte drift alignment? If so, that'll eat up tires in no time.

What did he "tune" the motor and turbo with?

Do you have a link to the rewire kit? How much boost could you run stock with the rewire without hitting fuel cut?

if you leave it alone, the stock pump can get you to about 16psi before fuel cut so that kit will get you to about 18psi -- give or take

but the problem is that the t25 you have in your car ( if its the stock turbo ) wont go that high psi wise efficently -- your better off leaving it at 16psi untill you can get a 14b or bigger to get you to that 18psi

Stock turbo? Do you have a MBC? (If not, get one) Do you have a boost gauge? (Most important first mod you can do).

If you go with a FMIC as one of your first upgrades, they're pretty expensive and will be worthless if you still have a stock turbo, there's definitely other mods you could put your money into as mentioned above if you don't have them.

And as some others have said, the search is your new best friend Make sure when you go to the tech guides, theres links in there for most common mistakes from newbies and most common FAQ's, within that is a link to all the maintenance, I recommend doing everything if you don't know when the last time it was done, will save you troubles in the future.
