Hey, I am new to this forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Alex and I'm from B'ham, Alabama. I am currently looking to buy a car. I came accross a 1992 Eagle Talon TSi FWD. It has an exaust, spings, turbo timer, new gauge(turbo) and 17" rims from the 3rd gen i believe. The head/engine has also been rebuilt and all new seals by a Mitsu. Tech. person. The owner wants $4500 obo. Before i go any further i just wanted to ask if this is a god deal/find. If these cars will actually last me. I'm currently in colege, so need something that will stick around for a bit. My plans for it will be just simple add-ons, not going to mess with the boost or anything just yet. And also what big problems should i look for in these cars when i go to look at it and when i test drive it.

Thanks alot

I would certainly look for more opinions other than mine, but personally it doesn't sound like that good of a deal. If the car is in great cosmetic shape and it is mechanically sound, I'd say like, $3,000 for that would be fair.

If the engine is rebuilt, it was probably raced. No, not probably, it was. ;) There are other things that wear, like the tranny for example.

I think I speak for the majority DSM community when I say that a DSM is not really well known for it's reliability. I would imagine if you kept it basically stock and drove it with care, it would be reliable. I just don't know of any of us who actually do that. I, for example, bought mine 11 months ago with the intent of buying something cheap that gets good gas mileage and that I wouldn't spend any money on. 11 months later, I've spent an additional $10,000, hardly drive it, just mainly show it and race it! But hey, at least I've still got the "good gas mileage" part! LOL

They are great cars, easy to modify, cheap to make pretty fast, and have a great following community. But you must like working on cars to own one and use it to it's full potential.

I paid $3,150 for my 1995 with 132,000 miles on it and in good cosmetic and mechanical shape, except for no working AC. I've heard of many people on this forum paying less for theirs. I don't think I got an exceptionally good deal.

Good luck.

I paid 500 for mines. The guy said it WONT start. Turns out the ecu didnt work. Got one free from a friend and BAM it started. This was in May 2000.
Ever since then I NEVER had problem with it, even with the mods I have. 160 compression across with a 157,xxx motor OMG
Then again I baby the car so much. Dont really go into boost.

hahaha, nice nice.

Yeah as soon as I go look at the car I'm going to look it up and down. Going to check everything that I can lay my eyes on and then some. Hopefully I can talk the guy down to a better price, but I will keep yall up to date as to what happens.

O.k I have a question about babying the car. How bad should I baby it, like to the fullest? If the tranny and such chek out o.k can I still play with people and rev it up form time to time, and race it here and there?? or I must shift at like 3000rpms and less and not even start to think about peeling some tire??

thanks
