:laser: Ive been looking for a DSM for a while and i just came across a 1992 Laser AWD Turbo in the Classifieds. I was considering waving some cash in front of him, yet he hasnt answered his phone. I was looking for an opinion on how much you think the car is worth? It has 170,000 miles :| and the ad says that its in mint condition and stored winters. I was thinking maybe 500 bucks? I dont know much about Lasers. Thanks for the help! :laser:

It's high mileage but if it's mint condition and AWD then it's gonna be a good bit more than 500 bucks. Best advice is to go look at the car and drive it if possible to see if it's really in mint conditon. It's probably gonna run you around 2000-3000.

I bought my car for 1800.00 a couple years ago. It had about 150,000 miles on it. The tranny didn't shift all that well into 2nd. If it shifts well and is in good condition 2000.00 to 3000.00 like was posted before is probably what they would want. My advice is make sure the car shifts before you buy a DSM. The tranny is the weak link in the car. Atleast it was in mine.

Yeah im gonna check the engine head to toe, especially with those type of miles. When i drive it i think im gonna go get a compression test as well. I dont know much about lasers... are there any other things i should pay extra attention to?

It's worth the most he can get someone to buy it for :|

Is there an asking price?

$500 can get you a non running car.

Did you post that as a joke or what?

If someone offered me $500 for my car I would literally tell them to get ####ed.:rocks:

By the way, threads asking "what's this car worth" are not allowed if I remember correctly..

I agree with you Laser4G63, it sounds odd that it has all those miles while stored during winter, especially an AWD car. That would be part of the reason i would want AWD. I have not been able to contact the seller yet, but i will let you know what he's asking.

Just to get an idea on price, I spent $2200 on my Talon 2 summers ago and I jumped on it at that price because it was the only one I could find with absolutely zero rust. After looking forever at cars that had rusty doorjams, junk fuel and brake lines, faded paint, worn engines, and tranny's that wouldn't go into 2nd at all, I found this car which needed nothing but performance parts, and was worth every penny to me.

I will have some pics when I dig the car out of the garage this spring. Right now it looks plain, like a super-clean all white '92 with my '97 Eclipse's 5 star rims on it. I'm keeping it somewhat stock-appearing, with intent to make it a sleeper. The car has 130,000 on it, but the engine was rebuilt at 95,000 so it's very tight. All of the fasteners have come off very easily so far, I didn't even break a manifold stud! My goal was 13's for under $4000 spent (total investment, including car), and so far I'm well under budget. This summer shall be awesome.

I finally got a hold of the owner of the 92 Laser and he is asking 3500 and he says its been stored winters. I dont know, i think im just going to be patient and find that DSM that makes me all tingly inside ;) . Thanks for all input!

WTF I'm sorry, but what the hell does this have to do with this thread? Or are you looking for a chest to pin that medal on? :notgood:
wow ...another person with small penis syndrome.I was saying that you can find a car for 500 bucks in good shape just like the guy was going to offer 500 for the laser.another person said if anyone offered them 500 he would tell them to get bent so I guess my post has alot to do with this thread.

I picked my '91 Laser RS turbo for 400 bucks in October and it is still running today. Best deal I ever had. Don't buy that Laser, you will most likely be able to find one cheaper than that, if not significantly cheaper.

Yeah im not even that big into lasers, definately like the eclipse/talons better. I also have up to about 6.5k to spend so im gonna wait a while and find a nice TSi or GS-T/GSX. Thanks for all the advice on this:thumb:

6.5k WTF

Thats extremely impressive as your 16. I'm also 16 and I bought my first generation for $3750, and one of my friends bought a 1995 gst for $4900 so for 6.5k you could definately get a nice awd 2nd generation. Good luck with your car search, I'm sure you'll get a sick car.

Yeah its just the matter of finding of 2G AWD in my area that is lightly modded, Michigan isnt a breeding ground for DSM's . Also being 16 its hard being patient in buying a DSM :p . It will be sweet once i do find one though :thumb: . :dsm: :talon:
