1989 eclipse

I just wanted to verify that 1989 was the first model year for DSM. On your home page you list 1990 for 1g's. In '89 all that was availible was FWD eclipses.

i believe that they started producing them in late 89 but they were 90 models. i have never seen an 89 e/t/l anywhere. dont quote me on that.

Mitsu considers the first year as 1989...they made the 1999 GS 10th annaversary addition, so 10 years from 1999 is 1989.

I was makeing a statement---I bought a turbo fwd eclipse in 1989( it only came in red)....it was the first one at my local dealer. I loved that car so much when I went to college I sold it with 150,000 miles on it, never gave me any troubles---NOW I know all of you think that I'm lying , but it never had any problems...really

Its a 90. You could buy '05 corvettes last fall, that would be 2004. Look at your vin#, the tenth letter should be a "L" thus a '90 model.

I have a 1991 tsi that was made in Oct. of '90 but my '92 was made in '92 whats up with that? And its a 6 bolt.

It can not be a 1990 and get 1989 car of the year!---even if it was built in 1989...it was probably built in 1988....read the ad....

You need to re-read the ad. It was one of the TEN BEST CARS OF 1989.

Some 92's were still being made in 92 but they started to make 93's in april/may ish of 92. Mine was made in 1992 with 6-bolt (March).

Dude, just because you bought the car in 1989 doesn't make it an '89 model year car. Your car is a 1990 model. The VIN proves it.

Are you sure you aren't getting confused with manufacturer dates? For example my 1995 Talon was actually made in december 1994 per the sticker on the door frame.

Kellys Blue Book only lists as far back a 1990..I think your car may have been made in 1989 but it is actually considered a 1990 model.

OK--call me pig headed, but I know of lots of people with 1990 gsx's....the first model year of the eclipse they didn't have all wheel drive, it didn't come out until the next model year...believe me, I was there. if the all wheel drive existed I would have bought it.

True, AWD wasn't available when the Eclipse debuted in early 1989, but the first FWDs were technically still 1990 model year cars being sold in 1989. Post the VIN of your so called '89 Eclipse.
