they where 90 models sold in 89
kinda like all the other auto makers sell a car a year or so early
 
I was makeing a statement---I bought a turbo fwd eclipse in 1989( it only came in red)....it was the first one at my local dealer. I loved that car so much when I went to college I sold it with 150,000 miles on it, never gave me any troubles---NOW I know all of you think that I'm lying , but it never had any problems...really :dsm:

Its a 90. You could buy '05 corvettes last fall, that would be 2004. Look at your vin#, the tenth letter should be a "L" thus a '90 model.

I have a 1991 tsi that was made in Oct. of '90 but my '92 was made in '92 whats up with that? And its a 6 bolt.

Some 92's were still being made in 92 but they started to make 93's in april/may ish of 92. Mine was made in 1992 with 6-bolt (March).
 
Are you sure you aren't getting confused with manufacturer dates? For example my 1995 Talon was actually made in december 1994 per the sticker on the door frame.

Kellys Blue Book only lists as far back a 1990..I think your car may have been made in 1989 but it is actually considered a 1990 model.
 
OK--call me pig headed, but I know of lots of people with 1990 gsx's....the first model year of the eclipse they didn't have all wheel drive, it didn't come out until the next model year...believe me, I was there. if the all wheel drive existed I would have bought it.
 
True, AWD wasn't available when the Eclipse debuted in early 1989, but the first FWDs were technically still 1990 model year cars being sold in 1989. Post the VIN of your so called '89 Eclipse.
