Can someone please inform me or provide a harness diagram showing where the condenser on the distributor gets connected?

Brand new engine build trying to start, it will not but I get one nice blue spark at the plug and then nothing. But condenser is not wired up.

Back in my day the condenser got wired to coil negative. This is a distributor without points, without vacuum advance, some form of electronic ignition.

Thanks in advance for your help.

The closest thing we are going to have in a DSM to that setup is the 1G 1.8L SOHC NA engine. From what I remember all the SOHC 4G64's in DSM's use the same wasted spark with a pair of coils and the ECU driving them that we have on the 4G63 DOHC engines.

I don't have time right now to dig the diagram out until tonight. Maybe someone else will before I get back.

I definitely appreciate any assistance. So do you think that the condenser/capacitor should be wired back to the ecm? This set up has one coil. The coil checked good with a multi meter. The capacitor also checked good, I just haven’t a clue where to terminate the one wire coming from the capacitor. Take number one plug wire connected to a spark plug and turn over the engine, I get a nice spark initially but then nothing else.

This distributor is unlike anything I have ever seen. It has a flat disk with slots milled and I assume that the slots are like windows and it operates similar to a Hall effect ignition.

Thanks again for your time and help

You should locate and acquire the FSM for your vehicle. We had somebody asking about a later version of this van a week or so ago and he found some. This forum is focused on DSM's and nothing else but some have experience with other Mitsubishi's.

This is how the 4G37 1.8L SOHC Ignition is set up. The closest thing in it would be the CRC filter.

Note that on this engine it has dual purpose, it filters the main power feed and it provides a low pass noise filter for the ignition pulses for the gauge cluster.

You'll have to see it any of this is close enough for your use case.
