I got this 1935 klaxon 18b horn for free when i was doing some work out of the city . It's broken BUT I got it to work after cleaning it up (it vibrates) still havent fully assembled it . Bolt is broken so replacing it today and cleaning up the rust as much as possible
This was originally on a model T btw
.
The guy had like 6 cars from the 1920s -1945 .
It's not the auuuoogggaaa but is super loud
.
I have to use my horn alot where I live due to the zombies that walk in the streets so guess what.. shes going on the dsm
!
I heard the exact same model 18b and is it ever loud haha.
Now thought I'd give it a shot does anyone have a schematic or old pictures of these things ? I'll have it working by tommorow but anything to speed me up would rock.
I know how to adjust the air gaps I'm just not sure the orientation of the two circle plates .
It's a 6 volt horn but i was assured that running it as a 12v is no big deal with these (condenser might burn out quicker but who knows
)
The spring plate is not pictured as I forgot it last night when I removed the old broken bolt.
I've cleaned it up enough to cause it to vibrate and sounds like an old doorbell when you hold it(buzzzzzzzzzzzzz).
I have a decent understanding how these work . Spring steel circle plate makes the sound and an electromagnet causes the thing to vibrate just a touch out of phase each time to cause the sound. It's like a relay that resets itself and makes a vibration.
Lastly do our 1g cars have a horn relay or should I wire one in
.
Anyways should be a cool addition to the laser . Mounting it under the driver side fender.
Any model t guys or klaxon enthusuisst on here? would love to pick your brain.
Ps. I got it broken so dont get mad I'm replacing parts an painting it
Actually got buddy to send me a picture of the vibrating part
And actually what do you guys think ? Pointless mod Lmfao? Or cool?
