I know the pic sucks because of the fall light (I'll upload more later), but it turned out pretty good. No streaking. 3 six packs of red from home depot.com =$105 (equivalent of 3 gallons), 1 black can for the spoiler, and 3 dip nozzles from dip your car.com =$8.

Apparently the red doesn't streak as bad as black. I decided to leave the roof and hood black since the paint was still good. The plastidip covered the clear coat peeling red. If I tried to dip red over black it would take much more dip. I actually like the two tone gloss/ matte combo, and those dip nozzles made a world of difference.
Thanks!

I actually prefer the look of the white headlights / clear side markers. Plus, my gf has been driving the car a lot lately so it's safety above all else.
The only thing you have to watch with the dip nozzles is drippage. I wiped the nozzle on every pass, and you have to use just the tip of your finger to spray or it will interfere with the paint.
I did this on a slightly windy day outside, cursing the whole time. Even though it came out OK (looks good from 2 feet away), if done in a garage it would've looked excellent.

IMO would match the hood, top, and wheels much better. There is no safety issue involved, just have to take apart the headlights and paint the inside plastic bezel. It is not reflective and does not affect visibility. I said the same thing with my car until I did it and it gives the car a much dfferent, much better look.

Nice work most plastic dip cars I see don't turn out that well without a sprayer!.
I had blacked out head lights on one of my other cars I wasn't that bad at night honestly.

I have been thinking of doing mine like a burnt orange. I have a guy that sprays them.friend of the family.as long as I supply everything he will do it for free. I'm just wondering how easy is it to maintain and make it last? Never messed with plasti dip? Seeing that I have no experience with it and very few people around where I live use it,I have been kinda iffy with it. From the pic it looks amazing.

Not sure on cars, but bikes, it is easy to maintain. Rocks will nick the front but not really noticeable unless really looking for it. And where your legs rub on gas tank will dull after some hard turns and gripping with legs. So I would think if not a lot of gravel on roads, and you wash it should be ok for a reasonable time. Their was a BMW had Black plastidip in my old neighbor hood that lasted couple months before he finally got it painted Matt black.

Any special detergents so it doesn't deteriorate the bonding? Doesn't dull the finish? Treat it like you would a straight up matte paint job? That's what I'm asking LOL like I said nobody around me really uses it so I can't exactly get first hand experience with it. Everything you read on the net says something different LOL

Use regular car wash soap and one of those fake leather chamois to clean it. Simple green works on bird crap stains. I originally wanted to go purple, but I realized if it chipped I'd see the red underneath.
You can fix chips and tears with a little dab of mineral spirits. It smooths the edges down, then respray the area. No matter what color you choose, I would recommend buying a couple spray cans of the same color for touch up.
I actually sprayed the front bumper months ago to see how it would look. Barely any chips, and when I sprayed the sides it blended with the bumper perfectly.

If it made a difference at all then you did something wrong like spray the reflectors or the outer lens. Blacking them out correctly won't make a difference at all.
