2 cans of bondo later

Most DSM guys don't like body kits... myself included. But if your going to put some kit on, you might as well mold it on. Not bad... :thumb:

look really good but since u were doing body work i would have shaved the door handles and put poppers on.

the car was wrecked pretty bad on that side
the rear quarter panel is the hood off a ford explorer

not of when it was being worked on but there are some pics before the side skirts on my profile

You shouldn't have put tape where you sprayed primer. It's going to be more work feather-edging it out. You should have just let a little over-spray get on it. Other than that, nice work. I'd like to see the finished product sometime.

I'm sure he doesnt care, he will have to sand the rest of the car anyway when he repaints anyway. You can't just paint squares on your doors it would be noticable, but there is no need to get overspray in areas that you don't need it because that is just more unneeded sanding.

I will admit that it looks clean, but coming from personal experience, Its not worth the hassel.

It may not be woth the hassle to you but there are plenty of people who will disagree, its all personal opinion,no need to try to discourage someone from doing something just because you don't like it.

As for spraying squares of primer, last pics I posted got the same response,"oh,don't spray squaares, its hard to remove"....primer doesn't stick to clear coat too well and takes seconds to sand off in a square like that, why would you mist the whole car doing one little spot? Then you have that much more tome you have to spent on getting overspray off.

Have you guys that have advised against the square actually done any bondo work? I'm just curious about the logic behind your thinking.

Looks good man,not much of a fan of kits either but at least its molded and smooth...like the dorhandles should be,haha.

As far as painting goes, there is a nifty little trick you can do to minimize the downstep effect that you get when you have a crisp line of paint. What you do is take the tape, and lay it so that a half of it is sticking to the car, then fold the other half backwards and stick it to your paper. This creates a capilary action when you spray it that will remove any noticability if you decide just to paint over that anyway.

As for sanding it down, make sure you sand it all off completely before you spray more on it. Most of the time the lines will show even if you sand it down to the point that you can't feel it anymore, and it will look pretty tacky.

I've had a year worth of auto collision repair classes, so I am pretty versed with the silver can and toothpaste.

Just my .02c. On topic, that is a sweet looking kit. Make sure to post pics when you get it painted completely.

Looks good but 2 cans of Bondo is WAY too much. As 'Roy' at Boyd Coddington would say ; " All we have today is a bunch of butchers slingin bondo!"... That is not directed torwards you, but 2 cans is far, far too much.

Did you bang out any previous damage? What was the previous damage? 2 Cans to mold sideskirts is just, alot.. I used maybe half a can on mine.

Besides that, it looks good, seems pretty smooth. I would use some glazing putty to eliminate any loeb spots. :thumb:
