So I am tuning with DSMLink and at first I had the base pressure of the Aeromotive AFPR set to 43.5 and I saw stuttering at only 3000 rpm and I couldn't go any higher. I have a fp3052 @ 16psi with 660s, dsmlink, afpr, etc. So then today I upped the pressure to 50 on the AFPR and I lost the stuttering completely. Then I saw that I had 18.0:1 A/F ratio across the board. So I reduced all the fuel trims to -10 everywhere, my timing went down but my A/F was still at 18.0:1. Can any one offer any help on this? Also, should I just leave the AFPR at 43.5 psi and put the fuel trims in the positive across the board? I am new at tuning so any help would be great.

does dsmlink show af ratio like that or do you have a wideband? do you have an exhaust leak? are you changing fp with the vacuum line off? did it just start doing this or are you just starting the tuning?

dsmlink does show A/F on mine on the graph. No exhaust leak, and I did up the pressure of the AFPR with the vac line off. This is my first time tuning. Thx.

Unless you have a wideband, the DSMLINK's AFR feature is just calculated and not as reliable as the ones read from a wideband. You can however compare the reading to a wideband and provided that there are no anomalies in your set up then it should be fairly close. You also have to tell DSMLINK what your setup is so that it will reflect the correct calculated AFR. You do this by right-clicking the AFR on your laptop and cliking on PROPS properties) then entering the correct information (like injector size and such). Hope this helps.

Oh man, I didn't know that. That will help a lot. Thanks. I could be running fine then and I just wouldn't know it.:thumb:

yeah man... u need to right click a/f ratio, click props, and out 660 as your injector size. If you are a 2g then the chip already assumes 43.5 base fuel pressure. Dont get TOO aggressive with dsmlink est a/f ratio(like 11.5:1) you need to be a little more conservative with it until you get a wideband. thats just IMHO.

hope this helps, even though its already been said!:thumb:

Yeah I got the same thing and I freaked out for a second, then realized something must be wrong as I was getting no knock, no increased temperatures, no nothing. Searched around in dsmlink, changed to 650s and it fixed it. However, now im running between 9.6-10.3 a/f off idle. 11.2-11.5 at idle. However, the car is running with very little knock, so I am going to wait to get a wideband and deal with running rich for a while, plus I want to get it tuned professionally with my gm maft setup.

I have a GM Maft too, but my settings are set at zero. Should they be set to something different when using dsmlink? I can't wait to get a wideband and fine tune this sucker. :rocks:

Yes, you want the MAFT settings to be zeroed out. If you have the MAFT in drawthrough, you are probably pretty dead on at zero across the board in DSMLink also. If you have the MAFT in blowthrough, you will probably need some calibration once you get the wideband. It should run fine for now though. You can also calibrate the MAFT with a MAP sensor, which you can get for pretty cheap if you aren't planning on buying a wideband right away.

make sure they arent ALL at zero, you still want it set for your stock injectors

Okay, so I'll adjust the maft and wait until my wideband comes in for the rest of the tuning with dsmlink. I am also going to check for boost leaks because I did a rough tune the other day, and I wasn't even getting spool until 3500 rpms with the fp3052, full around 4200 rpms (check mods in profile). Anyways, thanks for all of the info.
