$17,500 to run 10s is it to much

Now I dont know how accurate this is but I heard a while back that any alterations made to a cars exhaust before 50K miles is a federal offense under the EPA regulations. After 50K miles I thought it was ok. Personally I think this is a lie but I heard it and I just want to add flames to the fire =D.

Anyways, 17500 is not that bad if it does indeed included everything. I have over 4K in my motor/head alone. My fuel system costs almost 1K between pump, lines, injectors, regulator, etc. Engine management was another 1K easily (600 dsmlink, 250 ecu, 350 laptop). Another 1K for the intercooler/piping. Another 600 for the IM. Another 1000 for the exhaust (O2, Dowpipe, cat back). Then 1500 to 2000 for the turbo/wastegate. Now if you figure in all the various setup stages I have gone through, it almsot scares me how much damn money I have spent. Let alone the 1000 plus hours of work I have in on my car over its life. Anyways, there are only about 2 people on this website that even have the right to talk about 10 second cars and those are the people that own/drive them. I hope to be one of those this year, hope is the key word there.

Just keep this in mind, any fool can drive a car an 11 second car to the 13s, but it takes a really good driver to get an 11 second car into the 11s. Proof positive, I didn't change a thing with my setup once the race season started (except boost controllers) and I shaved 6 tenths off of my best time the first time out of the season to the last time out of the season. Im gonna go sob now that I realized I have spent this much money. Somone have a tissue?

Also i dont see how any of you are talking #### if youre so stupid you would even consider paying someone $17,500 to run 10 second 1/4 mile times. If you knew anything about cars, or the automotive field in general you could build your own motor and drivetrain. All I see here are posts saying I took my car to the shop and they screwed it up. Why dont you get some damn skills instead of relying on other technicians.

only the converter, unless its defective
if you break the law its 5k dollar personal fine and 50k dollar shop fine and they may close it down.

At least when my car breaks, I know that I only have myself to blame and I can't get mad/angry, only sad/depressed. I can't stand people who take their car to a shop and hand them money and say "make my car fast." I have turned every wrench on my except welding the roll cage, overboring my motor, and porting my head. Other than that, I did all the install, assembly, tuning. Anyone can buy a 10 second car, but it takes a real man to build one.

hell, I remember the 1st time I worked on a car, I wasnt even dumb enough to pay 90 bucks for some spark plug wires to be installed, I did it myself, took me screwing up to find the right firing order but it was done

My car is only in the 13's, but I'm happy to say that I did it all myself. Mainly because I'm too cheap to pay for labor
