is 20g to much for stock internals?

little laggy, mild tune, stock bottom and top end, spool up was at 3,400rpms to redline... crazy top end.

Well i am having to do it over and ill be going with the SBRgt 10 or the SBRG 57 from of course slowboyracing.com also have 1 to 2 other turbos in mind but im leaning twards slowboy.

WEll, what was the 20g originally suited for? I mean mitsubishi did design it, but was it intended for our cars in the first place or some mitsubishi fusos? If mitsu made the turbo, then I guess it should go along well with their products right?

The reason why the 50trim was suggest is because it's in the same price range as the 20G and will produce more power.

Has a HRC super 16 or 20 ever run fast though? They seem to just be a bad turbine housing on them. On paper they should make power.

I understand that, but a used 20G can be had for $500 in good shape ;)

If I was to do it over again with the available turbos today.

FP3065.

My car is my DD. In a large city (ie: Twin Cities, MN) I've had my S20G since the 6th day of owning my car (sept 99) and have been boosting 20psi for almost all of it.

I have a Stock 7 bolt motor with about 50K miles on it.
ARP head studs, Stock head gasket (copper sprayed), HKS 264/272 Cams. And that's it as far as the motor goes. Been that way since the 6th day. Started off with this set up on my 96 GS-T. But this past winter I swapped to AWD so I could get better 1/4 times.

Even with my FWD I thought the 20G was to small and before the 3065 came out I was looking into 60-1's for the FWD.

But it's all in the supporting mods/tune. I thought I had a big enough set up. But I had to redo my entire set up to go larger then the 20G.

And if I had to do it all over again. I'd buy all the parts that are on my GSX Now that way I wouldn't have to spend the money twice. to do it over again.

Apexi Skyline GTR FMIC (replaced the Greddy 24Row)
2.5" I/C Short Route I/C piping (replaced the HRC I/C kit)
FIC850 (replaced my RC550's)
Walboro 255 (re-wired mine)
ACT 2600 (much better then my Clutch Master Stg. 3)
DSMLINk V2 (recommend this to anyone wish I got V1 instead of my SAFC back in the day)
Mangus 2G SMI (replaced Stock)
1G TB (replaced Stock 2GTB)
FP3065 (will replace my HRCS20G)

The only things I'm kind of wishing I'd had done is a custom 3" Downpipe/ 3.5" Exhaust made up. I run the N1 and I think the 2.5" neck of the N1 Downpipe is restricing flow as well as causing some boost creap.

If I had the 3.5" I'd swap to 3" 02 housing(currently 2.5" 02) to mate to a 3"downpipe which would then go with the 3.5" exhaust.
Other then that there isn't much else I'd change. Maybe an FPR and Braided lines but that's about it.

I plan to run about 22-24psi on 92oct with the FP

Remember this is with a stock 7 bolt motor. I do plan on building a 6bolt at some point. But I plan to set up the car to be right at around 400whp on 92 oct. Then once the motor swap is done I'll push the car more.

My friend Andy Nash (local MN dsmr) took his 20G to 11.2@122mph with a stock 6bolt 1G AWD.

He dyno'd 390whp on C-16 when his set up was on his 99 GS-T. And 330whp on 92 oct@20psi. (but only dyno'd a few runs to use up the rest of his pump gas so he could put in C-16 so he never tried pushing the pump gas tune)

My personal best in my 96 GS-T is 322whp on 92 oct.@20psi

All and all compared to the newer turbo's S20G IMO just doesn't compare.

I know 3 local people that tried to get a 20G into the 11's on pump gas. And none of them came close. (best in this area was closer to 12.5 on pump with an AWD) My best in the FWD was 13.8@110mph on pump in street trim.
