Heres my situation. I have a Evo3 16g with an external dump and i want to put it on my gsx i have slowly began to collect parts to finish this setup. I want this setup to be a reliable setup because my gsx is my only car right now. So far i have my Evo3 16g, 3in gm sensor with translator version 2.02, Evo 560cc injectors, Walbro 255lph, and AEM wideband. which aren't on my car yet, i also have a 3in turbo back exhaust, front mount with all hard piping, boost gauge, type RS BOV. i just want your guys opinions on this setup. I only want to run about 15 psi on this setup. After i get this setup on me and my buddy will be tuning with his datalogger. Do you think i could get away with not having a SAFC?? and just use the gm sensor and translator to get a reliable tune?? Do you think these evo 560 injectors will be good enough to run 15 psi???

I have been reading a lot and people run the stock injectors with a walbro 190lph and get away with 14psi but i want to make sure its done right. seems how i need this car to be reliable. but do you have any suggesions as far as my planned setup. u think it should be fairly easy to tune off of the maft? or should i just get an apexi safc2?

well to be honest i have no way of tuning my car right now... but i do run 15 with stock injectors and it has gave me no problems...yet.... so in my opinion you should be good with 15 psi with the mods you have...

If you are wanting a reliable car at all, you need to do all of the necessary maintenance first. When was the last time your timing belt and water pump have been changed or serviced? Have you checked for leaks, compression, boost leaks, etc?
You know, I am not trying to be a thorn nor do I assume that you haven't done these things...but..I felt the need to mention them as a precautionary measure to help you build a reliable car.
So, moving on to your questions: Will 15psi hold reliably with that setup? Absolutely. Will you be able to get a decent tune with a logger and your maft? Absolutely.
15psi is actually possible without a wally, injectors, etc...not smart, but way possible. Seeing as how you have all or most of the recipe for a turbo running higher than stock boost, you will be just fine. But, may I stress that an EvoIII 16g is not in it's efficiency range at 15psi? 18psi-25psi is really where you will see them shine. I would suggest a good tune at 18psi and if you aren't happy with the maft/logger tune then try an safc or even dsmlink or keydriver. All of these are great ways to tune and you will find many success stories on these threads. Choose whatever is the most efficient and easiest for you. But, remember, ALWAYS do your maintenance first!

You need a logger to tune the car its, palm pilot cable, and the cd. I Like my set up, the gm maft is good but its not a way to tune you car with out dsmlink or a logger to get an idea of what the car is doing.

He said he's going to use a logger.

I've tuned PTE 580s and PTE 680s just fine with the maf translator. Always started, always ran well. Some other's have mentioned issues with it wandering in the tune a bit with ambient temp changes. But in drawthrough, I noticed none of that. In blowthough, yes a little. In fact, I was able to push the small 16g to some good numbers with it. But +20psi with the 1g timing map and a piggy back that puts you on even higher timing cells is not pumpgas friendly :( .

yea i have redone the timing belt and headgasket soon as i got the new six bolt from japan. i did a 6 bolt 4 bolt rear end swap into a 93 gsx. soon as i got the motor i redid the timing belt and headgasket along with waterpump, new cam seals, and all timing componets. i know people have said i could get away with doing the 16g without the wally and injectors but i want my car to last and be a realiable car. i dont like to shortcut things when it comes to things. there are way to many people out there that do that and wonder why there car doesnt last. that was why i was asking about my setup to see others points of view. i probably will tune it for about 18psi but i want to be able to run 15psi just for daily driving. thats where im going to get a greddy turbo timer/boost controller so i have my boost settings right at the touch of a button. im just wondering if the stock evo injectors will be good for a tune at 18psi im not to firmiliar with them. i wont be running over 18psi at all.

and my compression was 155 across the board.

Well for for a few runs and keep the boost low and look for knock on your logger, remember every car is different. You also have a wideband so you have the right tools to tune. Some people say you can or upgrade to 650s there are threads on this, 15psi should be fine.

Yes you will need an afc or some sort of tunning device. Yes 560cc injectors will be enough for a 16g.

I think im going to see what i can do with the stock evo injectors first. Seems how they are easier to find and are alot cheaper.

I have a piggy back tunning device the maf trans. i was just curious of what people thought of tuning with it.
