Hey everyone. Very soon I am going to be upgrading my 14b because, well, it seems to really take a poop in the top end. :banghead: Still better than the t25 though :D
Anyway I want to keep my stock exhaust manifold, and keep an internal gate for cost sake. So with this criteria I'm really limited to a big 16g or a 20g.
This is where I hit a wall, and need some input here. First hand experience would be a plus! :thumb:

I have all supporting mods and am runnning a s-afc with 650cc injectors and a 255 so I think I'm good on fuel.

I think the 20g could be better since I have a fwd. Reason being is that the increased lag could really be beneficial to my launches as far as not loosing traction.
The flip side to this is that I still want to have good low end power.

Is there really a very noticeable difference between the 16g and 20g?

I'm really torn between the 16g and 20g, so any input would be awesome.
Thanks,
Eric

There is a pretty big difference between a 16g and a 20g.. To get a 20g to run where you would want it to your gonna need bigger injectors than that which means you'll need link etc. I'm running a 18g with 550's and a SAFCII and I need to upgrade bad.. You'd be able to run a 18g nicely, or a 16g at pretty high boost but to really wake the 20g up I'd want better supporting mods.

Thanks for the info!
I can see that flow is deffinitely better with the 20g. 40 more whp on the same boost level, but very similar torque.
I wish the links to the dyno graphs worked so I could see the power curve of both...

Thats what I was afraid of. I'll probably end up with a 16g at high boost.

More like +25 w.h.p. and +23 torque. Not a big difference to be honest, but the 20g is capable of a bit more than what this test showed. Even the 50 trim was only +28 w.h.p. over the EVO3 16g.

My GF's car has a Buschur 20g currently set at 15 PSi. It's awd with a slipping clutch, but when it spools it definately hits. I'm running a s16g (ported) and it spools very fast, but doesn't really lag so you can't "feel" it as much. It's always there when you gas it. I love the 20g and want one myself, but the E3 16g is popular because it can do everything, and is still a 14b variant turbo.

Your personal goals and setup may warrant a 20g that will satisfy your low torque lanches, eliminate wheel spin and help your power band. Running lower boost on it as well will still give you an upgrade while having you utilize your current mods. Since cost is a factor as well.

Good luck man! Keep us posted!

I was talking about the 20 psi runs. ;)
Thats the closest realistically to what I would run.

I would recommend the FP HTA68. Great "little" turbo in a bolt-on TDO5H Housing! :sneaky:

Everyone is gonna have different results because of different mods, but with your mods they're PERFECT for a B16g. Just throw a keydiver chip in with it and you'll be set.
I believe Jeff at Keydiver has stopped taking new orders for the time being... http://dsmchips.com/
