I have a 1997 Eagle Talon TSi AWD, I picked up about a month ago. It was getting little to no boost and upon investigation it was due to the turbo being barely mounted to the exhaust mani. The only mods are FMIC and a 16g turbo, and was wondering what would be best to get the car to hand this reliably with no problems. I already have a 255lph fuel pump, was wondering if injectors were necessary, or if I should pick up a 1g BOV or an aftermarket one.

That's a GREAT question that many of us have asked shortly after we purchased our DSM's. Before posting though, please utilize our sites search feature as this sites been around for 15yrs and most questions have been asked and answered hundreds of times.

You'll want to follow the 2g DSM Upgrade Paths link, then the Basic Horsepower Upgrades write-up. Notice upgrading to a bigger turbo is #12 on a long list of supporting mods that follow a list of free mods/basic maintenance to make sure your car's in decent operating condition to be modified.

Stage 1
  1. Intake and airfilter
  2. Boost Gauge and Wideband (AFR) Gauge
  3. Blow-off Valve
  4. Boost Controller
  5. Exhaust cat back
  6. Exhaust straight pipe
  7. Exhaust downpipe
  8. Exhaust manifold
  9. o2 housing
  10. fuel pump, AFPR, fuel pump rewire (DONE)
  11. Intercooler piping and/or front mount IC kit
  12. Turbo (DONE)
Notice what you've got done so far and everything your missing? Whoever you bought the car from got ahead of themselves so I'd back track and make sure you've got most (if not all) of the stage 1 upgrades, including the drivetrain mods, before moving onto stage 2. The only thing that's in the stage 2 list that will never hurt (but isn't cheap) is the engine management/logging software and the warning gauges. These just aren't 100% necessary with the stage 1 upgrades but still recommended if you're going to be racing your car.

Stage 2
  1. Logging software
  2. Warning gauges
  3. Fuel Control / Engine management (typically included with logging software)
  4. Fuel Injectors

If I was starting out on a new build I would include the engine management/logging software in Stage 1 mods. But that's just me. Corey did a nice job outlining what you can do, and as he said, it's largely covered in the Resources section found in the main navigation menu at the top. You can find a lot of information without even having to use the Search feature, just click around a bit.
