I found a Compressor housing for a 16g for $50 if i were to purchase it could i put it onto my Stock exhaust turbine housing with a different wheel?

Yikes! Unless you have a 14b on the car, then yeah...that will not work. The T25 is made by Garrett, not Mitsubishi. The Garrett turbo is ball bearing as well, adding further complication as mitsu turbos are thrust bearing.

Thats a good question. I understand that there are some thrust bearing applications of the T25, like Saabs have in at least 1 model. Most are ball bearing though...I have never personally taken one apart from a 2G, so I am not absolutely positive...Maybe someone can chime in with more experience on this.

I am positive that the Mitsu housings are a no-no however.

I didn't think ANY factory-installed turbochargers were ball-bearing because they're so fragile. One hot shutdown would kill it....let alone 15 or 20 per week as most untrained DSMers would.

The only reason I asked is because the compressor housings looked very similar in size. Does anyone have a picture of the stock t25? i might be mistaken because I was looking around on the forums last night for a similar topic and all the ones that people said came on the eclipse and talons looked different than mine My compressor says TD05H and serial number is as follows S G292043 49178-01030. And for anyone that does not know the stock turbos are not ball bearing I have mine disassembled right now. Thanks

Right on! Then do that shiz.

Thanks for the education guys, that makes a lot more sense to me. I feel like a dummy! Ha!

i thought there was supposed to be some special type of oil feed line somewhere that came from the ehead or something

Congrats, someone did a 14B swap on your car.

A 16G WILL fit into the 14B's turbine housing, however I would keep the boost low if you choose to do the swap. A normal 16G comes with a 7cm2 turbine housing, the 14B housing will only be 6cm2. This may actually help the car feel more responsive because of the added backpressure (especially on an Auto), but if you start to up the boost the 6cm2 housing will become an enormous bottleneck.

When your 14B was installed on a 1G, it most likely had a hard metal line that ran to the passenger's side front corner of the cylinder head. Your car's stock T25 had a hard metal line that ran to the filter housing....however, this line will not fit a TD05H turbo. Most guys replace the T25's oil line from the filter housing with a flexible braided line.

I'm not a huge fan of supplying turbos with oil from the filter housing that were originally intended to get their oil supply from the head, but that's a whole separate discussion that has been beaten to death.

The oil line that is attached to the top of the turbo is still a hard line that comes from the oil filter housing. Is that bad?

I'm actually pretty surprised that I had that and did not know it. what kind of boost should I be running without a boost controller? And now I have to cancel my T25 rebuild kit that's on the way. where is the cheapest place to get turbos balanced? I got excited and took apart the turbo without fully marking everything. :toobad: should not have done that

Mistubishi turbos are component-balanced from the factory, meaning the turbine assembly and compressor wheel are balanced separately, and can be reassembled in any position and still be within reasonable balance.

If the turbo's rotating assembly was balanced when it was built, there would be alignment marks on the shaft and wheel....like a Holset.

Unless your wheels are damaged in some way, you're probably wasting your time and money sending your parts away to get rebalanced.
