Okay, so my 7 bolt has 150k on the clock and its just about done. I'm wanting to get a 6 bolt with decent mileage.

I was wondering-- what's the general consensus when buying a 6-bolt motor? I took a risk with the big 16g off e-bay and it works well, but that would've only been a 300 dollar boo-boo. Now, I'm looking at 1200+ and it's not something I want to risk on a 'it might run' kind of deal.

Any of you guys with swapped JDM's... where'd you get yours?:dsm:

My opinion is that no matter what engine you get or from where, you need to do at least a basic rebuild when you get it. At LEAST do the following:

Complete top and bottom gaskets
Rod bearings
Main bearings
Timing belt tensioner and bearings
Timing belt
Balance shaft belt, or remove them

If you get a complete engine rebuild kit that comes with pistons then get the cylinders bored out and replace the pistons and rings. The more you do in the rebuild, the more reliable the engine will be.

I bought my JDM motor about year and half ago off eBay. Great deal motor is still running strong! I recommend you look on eBay, just keep in mind feedback!:thumb:
