Hey! whats up everyone, i havent posted in a while, due to moving, and getting a new job and all. The other day my car hit 149,800 miles basically and my serice engine soon light came on. I was just curious to know if anyone knows if the two are related and its telling me its time for the 150000 mile checkup, or if there is something else going on. I checked the oil, and anti freeze(making sure due to having engine swap recently) both seem to be good. I just want to make sure its what I think it is, and not something I hope it isnt....i think i said that right. any help is greatly appreciated

I forgot to mention my ride is a stock(except for new engine) 420A engine. the body itself still has 150000 and the same origanall Computer system as was put on the car in the begnning. again, any help is appreciated.

Service Engine Soon light is a "Check Engine Light" which means there's a problem.

Don't quote me on the rest of this but if I'm not mistaken we no longer have the Maintenance lights that come on at certain mileage. I also think that the maintenance light was an OBDI program feature that is no longer present in OBDII and later vehicles.

crap I hate being car illiterate. okie doke tho, I appreciate the help! guess ill be rollin her to a dealership. . Thanks for the help tho man!

Go to Autozone first and get the codes retrieved. Come back and let us know what codes you have. If it's something simple, we can help you diagnose and fix it on here. If it's more involved then we'll let you know and you can take it to the dealership then.

ok, well the check eng. lights gone now for some reason or other. But still going to do that key dance after work here and see what i can come up with.. thanks a mILL!

The keydance code does not work on ALL 2gnt's. Regardless of which ones they work on and which they don't, the results are still very vague and not benificial for someone trying to properly diagnose the problem. Example being code 21 has over 15 different possible codes.

Code 21 refers to an o2 sensor related failure. But it doesn't specify if it is a heater failure, sensor stuck at center, sensor shorted to voltage, shorted to ground, heater shorted to voltage or ground, and so on.

Code 11 could be Timing belt skipped 1 tooth or more, no crank reference signal at PCM, intermittant loss of cam or crank, or mis-fire adaptive numerator at limit.

Code 42 could be Fuel level sending unit volts too high, too low, fuel level unit no change over miles, or fuel pump relay control circuit fault.

This is just a few of the examples as to why the key dance code really is a thing of the past as far as diagnosing a problem accurately. Autozone will retrieve the full code at no charge. I'm more than willing to help trouble shoot a problem based on the full "P" code that autozone will provide. However, the simple two digit code is not enough for anyone to really help you diagnose this.

Also, with a check engine light condition the code is ALWAYS stored unless the computer loses it's power or ground. When the light goes off then the problem has temporarily gone away. The code is still store but the condition is not active. I recomend having the codes pulled and then determine whether or not you should ignore the code or fix the problem.
